Tesla let out of north america people make some reservation from 2019 to mid 2022, so 3 years ! I cannot imagine Elon told to all that people : « i give you money back, buy a model Y instead please »

if the production truck is now really the same size as a rivian, in my mind, it means Elon wants to sell it worldwide

Not globally.
Not according to what I've been able to find, if we take 2019 as reference so that results are not affected by supply chain related issues that could distort the data, you'll see that ~4M pick up trucks were sold worldwide. In that same year in the US alone ~2.5M full size pick up trucks were sold, and that's without Canada.

https://www.statista.com/outlook/mmo/passenger-cars/pickup-trucks/worldwide#unit-sales

https://carsalesbase.com/us-car-sales-analysis-2020-large-pickup/

Not to mention there are only three large markets where you can realistically sell Cybertruck at volume due to income and infrastructure limitations:

1) US+Canada
2) EU + AUS/NZ
3) China

That skews the picture even further in favor of full size trucks as a good chunk of small and mid size trucks are sold in South America and Asia.

Elon says truck may be 5% smaller..

Then he retracts and says it has shrunk a bit, but not that much.

Now its 5%

Yep... advice within Tesla has swayed towards worldwide best size.

Although, can't put it past him... Maybe he saw an opportunity to confuse his competitors.

The CT will be mostly a US delivered truck. I haven't even heard of Tesla planning to ship/sell anywhere else.
Years before announcement of Mexico Gigafactory the people of Mexico have had the ability to make reservation for Cybertruck. As far as I know there are also many Cybertruck reservations from people in Australia.

I have 5 friend in Mexico that have Cybertruck reservations.

Tesla Mexico Cybertruck order page is still working

We can buy and do buy tons of full-size pickup trucks including the larger super duty series

I don't know about other countries but in most U.S. States a ball-hitch type trailer is not an option for a 6th seat or any seat. In most U.S. states, NObody is allowed in ball-hitch type trailer when trailer is traveling ( in motion) on public roads. Some U.S. States do allow passengers in 5th wheel trailers but many U.S. States do not.

I really don’t think Tesla look in the rear view that often… and realistically anything behind them is so far behind it’s pointless to look.

Since there's no passenger protection in them, it sorta makes sense.

All these front/back sleepers that have to have their full length straight lined in order to sleep...

Side sleepers naturally become a bit more compact while sleeping. But unless you are spooning, having 2 or more people can wide pretty quickly. Of course on a cold winter night, spooning is the recommended sleeping position anyway.

Same. Won't be trading in my X with only a 5 seat option :(
My 4th is on the way. Just lost a lot of points with the wife not being able to sell the 6 seats. That really sucks if it’s true. Maybe it will be an option.

Why wouldn’t you … :ROFLMAO:

82”?

129F9C75-24D3-434B-863C-641025B5AA12.jpeg

Taken literally, 220” long X 75.8” wide X 74” tall

Closer in size to a Rivian than a Lightning

But agree, I wouldn’t take “about 5% smaller” so literal yet

Interior dimensions, especially the shoulder width of the back seat, are what matter to me. If it can’t fit three car seats across in the back seat, then it means … I don’t have school drop off duty

and I don’t think people appreciate how low/tight that tonneau cover will feel. You’ll not be sitting up.

You’re right, this is for all intents and purposes a 5.5’ X 4’ bed. The 5.5’ isn’t so surprising to me, because the geometric “trick” at the front never impressed me.

But the 4’ metric seems … shocking? That’s narrower than the space between the wheel wells in an F150, and narrower than the bed of a Rivian.

Can’t be 4’ … right?

unless you take 5% smaller literally, and then…

was this downsizing all the “price” of hitting 500mi range?
That’s like a ford ranger bed. I think a lot of the downsizing is to try to get that range. I don’t think the 4680 cells got them nearly the advantages they hoped for and I think the exoskeleton doesn’t do as much load bearing as they had hoped. I bet they are even thinning out that as well. The fact that they changed the bed to plastic says to me that they are desperate to lighten the dead weight.
