i learned the 4 ft. Wiper blade is delicate. Just an inch of snow on the windshield, but a bit of frost on top. Lazy me, I started the wiper before cleaning the screen, and instantly the blade broke off. Disaster! First flaw in my truck.
i ordered 2 replacements from Tesla, using my Foundation series credit. Immediate response, shipped in less than 1 day. The new unit clicked in with minimal work, and it works! Thanks Tesla.

This is actually a good reminder for me, because I tend to get lazy about snow removal if I am in a hurry and could see myself turning on the wiper without a good and proper snow / ice removal.
I am also now thinking I should get an extra wiper in case I do something stupid.

I think the problem is that the 4-foot long blade acts as a lever, with the attachment point as the fulcrum. If the resistance across the glass is higher on one side of the fulcrum, the blade will twist, and overload the attachment point. There will be more resistance at the top of the blade, where it's covering the most distance.

The fix would be to make the attachment point stronger, and/or spring-loaded so that it can twist without breaking.

I suppose they could optionally make it a "break away" fitting that could be easily reconnected, in lieu of disintegrating, but you'd still have the metal arm scraping across the glass.

Any pics of breakage - kind of disappointed that it broke. What happens if you get inside and it auto turns on?

Did the new blade feel a bit loose when installed? I replaced mine today and the blade feels loose in the holder compared to the original blade. It snaps in place but I can still pull it out of the holder with minimal effort.
