Two things can be true at the same time
They have failed at the auto wiper, but they have put binocular distance from any American BEV competitor in regards to autonomy (AI tech in cars), and general tech WHILE producing cars at scale and for a profit. It’s not fanboy to state those things. In the same way you say people need to “stop being complacent and making excuses for Tesla”, people also need to acknowledge how historic and game changing work Tesla has done and be ok saying… I mean the best selling CAR is an EV… so yes we can’t make excuses for failures, but you can’t diminish accomplishments so as not to appear fanboyish
That's all true and that's great they created FSD, but let's call it what it is, if you can make a car drive on its own, you should be able to make windshield wipers operate correctly at this point.

Totally. Again that doesn’t diminish all their tech accomplishments either though. And the wipers never bugged me because I rarely have ever used a car companies auto wipers. None have ever been good

What is the source of this rumor?

I've used my wipers a lot over the last 1855 miles without noticing any problem. You say it's a safety issue? I will pray that no harm comes to me! :ROFLMAO:
I'm at 6K, used at wiper at least once a day, mine must be made of titanium.

Honestly it's not a huge deal to me since I live in Socal, so wipers are rarely used. But every other car I've ever owned has worked perfectly when it comes to wipers and parking sensors too.

But in the end, I love my Beast and although the wipers and parking sensors were great on my last trucks, I'd never go back to them. I love it that much, it's an amazing vehicle.

I love my CT, it's my 6th Tesla. I've owned one of the first Model S in 2012.

I'm just a realist and don't sugar coat things. I am not a Tesla or Elon fanboy although I love Tesla, which is why I have a Model Y Performance and a Cyberbeast

Read my comments in my profile. I love my truck. But Tesla gets too much of a pass for screwing up and being terrible at things that they should have figured out YEARS ago. People need to stop being complacent and making excuses for Tesla at this point, they are no longer a new car company... And have had years to correct simple problems.
I agree that some go over the top and leaves an unrealistic vision of the company. Others swing the other way and are too harsh. I try to keep a level realistic view. I still consider them a new auto company in comparison to a Ford, GM, Nissan, Toyota…as while Tesla has been around since the 1980’s Tesla is still a newborn in comparison to those in business since the late 1800’s or even those born in the 1950’s. I also try to ignore those who are over the top on their complaints to the point you know they are not even an owner, especially when their anger/hatred is apparent. While i agree on NOT giving them a pass i do try to keep my complaints tempered and with little or nor emotion.

Was supposed to pick mine up on Sunday and I was told it’s late next week now. Was gonna bring a cashiers check but ended up using Plaid instead.

Anyone know how quickly the payment goes through? Or is it deducted on the day of delivery?
I paid mine at delivery and they didn’t ask for it, I just did it. As long as you connect ahead of time you can pay 5 mins before opening the door. I looked around mine and was satisfied whilst it was charging and then hit the pay button, it processed. 20 mins later I had a text telling me where to go to pick it up. The money didn’t disappear until the following day from my account. Super easy, why people pay in advance is beyond me.

the thing people need to understand with Tesla is this is his (Elons) business model.. it is the same with spacex. But, it has always been with Tesla. Get the product out, Fail fast, reengineer or replace and move on. My model S is a P85+ purchased 10.2 years ago, I had my share of service appointments but nothing in the last 4 years.. This is what warranty and extended warranty is for. If you aren’t prepared for this then a Tesla isn’t for you. I’m not defending them I’m saying it is what it is and you can either accept it or move to another brand.

just to note I also have the cybertruck.. different delivery experience. Better made vehicle than my 2013 by a long shot.. I love both.

I wouldn't base your opinion of modern Tesla on your experiences with a 2014 Model S. They did a good job on that car, all things considered, but they still had some learnings to do. Tesla never stops learning and I'm sure they have software designed in-house that make those learnings easy for any employee working on a new design to access and benefit from.

Tesla's goal is 100% reliability, even if that's a theoretically impossible goal.

I don't think it will turn into a monster and attack you or anything like that.

But if it fails when you really need it, that could be a safety issue.

A bad batch of some part won't ALL be bad, but enough of them will be that it's best to just replace them all.

Mine often stays at the lower section horizontally. Is this normal? Also, there is a small amount of " thumping " noise when it is running, a low-pitch sound. I am a bit uncomfortable hearing on and on, so I either reduce the use of the wiper as much as I can or turn on the radio or music to cancel out that noise, but then you will see that thing park right in front of u, LOL

That’s odd, I have a 16447 vin and my Monday delivery was delayed.
please keep me posted on your delivery.
If they’re replacing the motor with one with a new part number, I would have thought that they would be building them with the new motor ??‍♂
Stopped by the SC earlier to ask about my delivery. Easier than calling or texting. Advisor stated an inspection needed to be done still but if there was an issue it is a 15-20 minute fix once they locate the issue and repair. I asked if it was the windshield motor and he stated it was the blade. ?‍♂
Arrived home, knocked out my trade in packet, then received a text stating delivery would be pushed to the end of the week. 6/21 now. Asked via text if they could tell me the issue, said it was being inspected still and couldn’t provide at this time.
I’ll take it all with a grain of salt, I’ve had plenty of Ford vehicles that had way worse issues from the factory. Not once in 25 years of owning a Ford did I do a vehicle exterior or interior inspection. Just got in and drove off lot. I’m with Tesla now based mainly on their mission, Elon’s outlook on life and the difference of dealing with a racket versus straight up vehicle purchase. Just my 2¢. Just as excited even with the delay.

I messaged through the app and was told that my CT (configured Wednesday, Vin on Thursday) was loaded and headed out of Texas. I asked about the delivery pause being for a wiper motor and they said "correct" and that they have a part but will need to ship it to the location prior to delivery. The app isnt letting me schedule delivery yet. My other Tesla's were in-stock so didnt deal with building....

Haha, I went by there on Thursday when it arrived and was trying to get an earlier appointment and they let me fill out and sign the paperwork at the SC and said they would let me know Friday morning if I could pick it up sooner and they were able to bump me up to an earlier Monday morning slot and then I got the text about the delay followed by a phone call.
I sure hope it’s just the blade they’re replacing but have a feeling it’s more than that from what I’ve read. Elon’s good but I don’t know that he is able to have the wiper motor redesigned, manufactured, delivered and installed in a week.
maybe it will just be a “riveting”quick fix like rainx for the time being. I would be fine with that ?
