Ah wow!

Looks like the cast forms part of the midgate, so no wonder it wasn't ever included. But in saying that, that one doesn't look very cast like? Probably, a pre cast prototype? (Sand cast then machined?)

Dimensions will be similar though.

Also have you seen the x-ray photo?

From the CT asset in soure thread:

Tesla Cybertruck Cybertruck frame in scrap yard shows no midgate and other details cybertruck asset source cod

Looks like the battery penthouse has moved to the front. Probably because of the vault cover and other stuff in the back.

That flat section between the aft castings is stamped. I believe we've seen that another photographs

Pretty easy to trace the load paths on this photo, from front to rear airspring. Like two bike frames next to eachother, super efficient design, using the round wheel arch structure of the cast on each end, to get the spring loads up to the cabin A frame.

The rear airspring looks like it goes through the cast to the rear motor subframe, which you can see on the xray above. The front airspring is the 3 bolt holds in the wheel arches. Both of these sit on triangular frame section of the rear cast and then route through the overhead cabin frame to the other side.

It's also pretty clear from this that there is still a fair bit of rear cast to the back, to support a hitch frame. It would be awesome if the spare would fir in that arch, but I think the rear motor subframe you can see on the x-ray might hang out there. The gap in front is for the vault, and maybe some other bits.

The front motor on the x ray is also completely new by the looks of it.

The only large structural part missing out of the frame is the pack, those SS skins won't be helping much for load by the looks.

This is excellent stuff...love it.

So now we have to dig out that thread again and figure out who was closest to the front firewall position. It's going to be close! 😁

Now if they would have found a different spot for that HVAC junk in the frunk, the frunk could have been HUGE! Bigger than a Lightning even! :ROFLMAO:

Actually, in the x-ray the pack looks like it's going under the vault cover?? And all the way up the front close to the motor, with the wheel arches cut out of the pack corners?

Can this be? That's at least another foot of battery pack. There might room for another 20kWh in there or more.

160kWh single layer?

See, I think that the skin is still doing a lot. Like the plywood sheathing on a framed structure, it's about load transfer along the entire surface and adding rigidity as a panel does so well.

what X-ray?!
Scroll up!

I'm calling it an "x-ray", you can call it an internal render with ghosted parts if you like, same thing...sorta! 😁
