When I saw the video, the front trunk worked exactly like my toilet cover and it is not electric..

Idk he was definitely holding it on the way up and down.

Maybe like a soft close mechanism and not a totally powered frunk?

yep.....maybe he did not want to warp it by using down to make sure it closed
