Anyone know why the CTs are still roped off in showrooms? Now that we've had the delivery event and people are ordering them, shouldn't we be able to see the interior and actually sit in the truck. I'm a reservation holder and would like to see what it looks/feels like before ordering. I also wouldn't mind a test drive, but that may be asking for too much.

I think your “I’m a reservation holder” don’t mean squat to Tesla until demand slows. They don’t have many on the streets yet so if the showroom model gets damaged it won’t be good

At this point, either or both of:

not until normal retail sales start, and/or

manufactured exclusivity

Tell people they can buy only 1 item of a product, and for the first time they have to have 2.

Good question. They still want to move people who are waiting to another car like a Model X or Model 3. Letting people test drive a car they have no inventory of and is waitlisted for a year+ wouldn't make much sense.

The guy at the Tesla store said 'eventually we'll contact you for test drives in a month or so'

Which I guess is an Elon Month Or So.

For one some show rooms cannot fit them so they are staged like trophy cases. They would rather build these for delivery vs build more for staging so preservation is key initially. Just from what I heard at a grand opening I attended this past weekend and one was there. So beautiful btw pictures and videos don't show case the true elegance in its presence that it has.
