it's part of the FSD/vision system now (has been even on 3/y for a while now). I'm expecting that the alerts will come when FSD is pushed, or close to that time.

I just dropped my truck off to service for some minor fixes, and the loaner Y they gave me had the backup alerts, which surprised me since I haven't heard them for the last month and a half in the truck, haha.

That’s good. But a state of the art vehicle seems incomplete without it lol.

Try backing up to a SC with the tailgate down. Even with (side) mirrors, it's no fun at all, not least because you need to be within 3" for the cable to reach(!). Not having a bed camera is a bit of a shortcoming.

I can second the observation that backup warnings would be really nice. I was backing into my drive this past weekend, at night, with a dimly lit driveway. I missed my backup camera landmarks by just a small bit, and wound up backing into the side of the house. Damaged the bumper and scuffed the rear quarter panel. Will find out on Monday how much that little error is going to cost.....

I’m surprised there isn’t any back up warnings. With the camera system you would think it could alarm the driver. Seems primitive.
I've been saying this since the day I got it..

I'm surprised you were able to keep the gate open and have the supercharger cable reach the charging port. I've had to back up with my closed gate nearly touching the supercharger just to reach the port.

My Y tells me when I am approaching an object (the house or another vehicle) the distance I am from that object. Does anyone know if this will be added to the Cybertruck? I park next to RV and I really miss that feature.

Interesting, because it does have a backup camera. I use it to back into Superchargers all the time.
But with the tailgate down, you won't get it. But then again, with the tailgate down, you aren't going to be able to plug into most Superchargers.

Tesla vehicles some time in 2022 or 2023 stopped getting ultrasonic sensors in favor of "tesla vision". It took a while for the parking alerts to be turned on and then to be fine tuned when that happened. It's more likely than not that cybertruck will get these same vision based parking alerts, and it will probably happen with the rollout of autopilot/fsd to the trucks. It's all based on the same vision system that they are still working on for the trucks.

the CT will definitely get all that stuff. The new vision-only MX just got that all turned on and it works well but it’s still improving. Some things I liked better with the ultrasonic sensors but they just recently added features that surpass what was possible with the older cars. As an example, the new auto park works amazingly well, you scroll to highlight the spot you want and the car backs in with efficiency & precision. The driver side door still only automatically opens a few inches when it used to open as wide as possible without dinging the car next to you but that will eventually get an OTA update once they have more data points. Until then I’d rather it not open enough than open too far!

I am realizing that it may be some time (meaning way to effing long) before we get back up proximity alarms. This is very frustrating. Really? How long does it take to get backup alarms when it is something cars 15 years old had on the day they were sold? I went online searching this topic and one thread said the CT had the alarms. I checked my truck safety options and it did not. I'm beginning to worry the Tesla "Company Plan" is broken and they will not mature into the auto company we want. Will blow your mind FSD happen in the next 5 years? When is it optimistic features vs a flat out lie? I love Teslas, but am growing tired of the BS... Maybe because I have $110k of skin in the game and expected more.

I've been screaming this since the day I got it. I am a great driver, but the sensors are the tech I paid for.

Biggest pet peeve about the car. FSD isn’t ready, fine, but include all the backup safety features. Would rather have this than the advanced cruise control that stops at every light.
