je suis pour un radar qui me détecte un piéton dans le brouillard ou alors quand je suis ébloui par le soleil !!
The existing camera technology is already far superior to the human eye.
As the FSD database evolves so will the camera precision.
Not sure radar would enhance much, if any.
The real danger is some idiot running into the back of you during low viz conditions.

On a simple Physics level (and from what I understand on radar/lidar, which is little) radar/lidar are useless and frankly ancient. Radio/micro-waves (radar)are too long for detailed identification, not all objects reflect them and can only identify surfaces (not things on surfaces). Infrared/Visible (lidar)are still too long for highly detailed images. The biggest takeaway is bouncing waves off an object to identify it tells you nothing unless it can also detect changes in the energy of the reflected wave due to the photoelectric effect which I would imagine is the only wave to read images on flat objects in that manner. I'm not a Physicist/Engineer but know enough about light/sensors that this would be insanely expensive, likely heavy, and just impractical for the purpose of FSD.

HD cameras with deep learning are the only practical way to do this. Think of when you google an image, the actual image, not the description, but in a 4-dimensional space. Radar/Lidar just cannot do this.

What's the consensus on CT options vs standard equipment?

My thoughts

Option: Tow package with integrated brake controller
Option: Winter package (heated seats and steering wheel)
Option: Solar tonneau cover (already confirmed)
Option: Premium interior
Option: Premium sound

Standard: No tow hitch
Standard: No heated seats or steering wheel
from what Elon has said, sounds like CT is going to be packed to the gills with the newest Tesla tech. Musk being Musk, I'd say that tech will be on all CT models.

Solar will of course be extra, hoping no more than 5-7k.

Tow hitch, rims, upgraded interior, and performance are standard across SEXY models. I don't see them abandoning that for upgrades on the CT. If there is one thing Musk hates most, it's making things more complicated than they need to be.

Spot on what I think.

Well except I hope solar is under $5k. That’s the point where I start seriously wondering about whether it’s worth it for the rare occasions when I’m off grid for a few days.

The tow hitch is a $1000 upgrade on the Model Y. I expect it will be standard on the Cybertruck, but having it as an option isn’t unprecedented.

My feeling is options will be much more things which can be added after manufacture is done. For example: tires/ bumpers/ campers/ wraps (for colors)/ CyberQuad. And of course solar.

Under 5K would be nice, but I'm not holding my breath. I live in FL and my commute isn't very far (about what Musk predicts would be daily average from solar cover). I'd essentially never have to home charge on a typical week since work and home are nice and open with no shade and good solar angels. I also figure it'd be an excellent way to keep lights going after storms since I don't have a power wall and I'm not sure I can create a closed system with my rooftop solar, CT, and home. I have a Net Meter so if powerlines go down I have to turn off my system.

I think the Tow upgrade will be more of a do you want to buy your own hitch (not the receiver)or have one provided by tesla. I have no experience in this department so am not sure if this is even a thing you can do on anything vehicle.

Yes, all upgrades post-production I think is the norm which makes most sense to me.

Tesla can almost certainly make a profit on solar well below $5000. The parts to make it happen are far less than that.

The big question is what percentage of trucks do they want to sell it on and how much they need to bump margins. At $2-3k nearly everyone would buy it they’d get a nice little profit, and it pushes the “Tesla mission” along nicely. At $7k, they get a huge profit and only a tiny number of takers.

The whole $80k cap on truck pricing to get the EV incentive is going to wreck havoc on this kind of thing.
