Range extender executed as a separate purchase from the store in December 2023 and was not listed on the vehicleorder agreement. It was $500 at that time.

That could be the problem. Folks who included it in the truck order have been handled by now. You need to contact customer service.

Look at the sales documents attached to your account in the Tesla app. It shows everything you bought in detail on the sales invoice, including any deposits for future delivery. Other threads on this forum have indicated the deposit was automatically refunded. I believe the required deposit was $2,000.00. That's how much it was at the time of my CT purchase in 2/25.
Purchase agreement PDF in documents doesn’t mention range extender.

My credit card shows a $500 refund, but I thought I also paid a second deposit of $2000. But I can’t find proof I’ve paid $2,000 but shit with Tesla takes years and I don’t have documents going back forever.

I know I got the little deposit from very very long ago back. But I thought there was a more recent one for even more I paid (like $2,000). But maybe I didn’t pay twice. I dunno. I’m terrible with money which is why I have a cyberbeast.

There was no second deposit for extender. There was an order deposit (~1k) for the truck on top of the pre-order deposit (~100) though (early order).
Destination fee was $1,995.

Ahhhh, that’s the other thing I remember: The $1,000 order deposit. I waited 1680 days between order and delivery and it’s all a jumble and I’m terrible with dollars.

But thankfully, Tesla took forever to deliver so I saved a fortune. Cybertruck cost 13.8 bitcoin at announcement, 2.25 bitcoin at delivery if I paid in full, and since I took out a dollar loan the CT bitcoin price has continued to drop…if I paid off remaining monthly payments on loan by selling bitcoin today, the price would be 1.55 bitcoin. I anticipate paying roughly 1 bitcoin for the FS beast when all is said and done. Sure beats 13.8!

13.8 down to 1.55? Cybertruck really has terrible value deflation! ??

I dunno about that exactly. CT was $100,000 at the beginning, $135,000 for me after taxes and stuff 6/28/24 and $165,000 after 6 years of loan payments.

But the dollar has tanked in value since then ?.

Toys like this cost many dollars because of competing investments.

There is an unused port that was called out for an inductive charger. It may be too low current to support supercharging.
Tesla could have either replaced the penthouse on the pack or tied into the existing motor feeds for HV. Similarly, loop the coolant and communications through the extender.
Possibility could be used for charging via solar connection? (GoSun EV charger for example.)

Yeah, I am definitely glad I didn’t consider selling my CT within 5 years of purchase. Teslas aren’t a good investment for the average person who wants a new vehicle every 3 or so years. It’s Tesla’s nature. Of course, the CT is a prime example.
My 17MS that was $101k, is now worth $18k after 8 years and 136k miles. I always make sure to share that when someone talks to me about purchasing a new/used Tesla.
It’s only worth it if you want to commit to not being one of the the average 3 year ownership group.

I’m coming from a 2008 kia Sedona, so I wasn’t too concerned about resale value :)

The unexpected 1680 day delay was awkward but a blessing in disguise.

For those thinking to charge from solar/battery, here is the equipment it takes me to have 27-30KWH per day to added to my CT from my off grid system.

Very capable system but not very economical or portable.

Bluetti Hardware
2 x AC500 Solar Generators
12 x B300K 2.7KWH storage batteries
12 X 455w panels (4 arrays of 3 panels each roof mounted)link to panel spec
AC500 Split Phase home connect kit
Tesla universal wall charger

Yeah charge while driving means interfacing with Tesla systems in such a way as to not cause faults.
Secondary concern is warranty impact.

Range extender via charging while parked is trivial at 11.5kW. Doable, but more complicated, for rates above that.
Check out Warped on YT:
He has figured this out on a MS. Essentially turning it into an EREV.

The Cybertruck needs more battery but the range extender in the bed was always a silly way to go about it. Kind of makes the truck no longer a truck. Unfortunately, more battery capacity is going to have to come from better batteries.
I agree. But for comparison, the resulting bed size would still exceed the R1T :ROFLMAO:

The problem with adding any charging hardware to the Cybertruck is this: It will with a near 100% certainty be more efficient and less expensive to utilize that hardware off of the truck. Adding it to the truck adds drag, mass, and solar production penalties.

The one use case where it makes sense is driving off-grid for extended periods of time, and that is pretty much it. Even if you were in an apartment with no charging option, and parked in the sun all day, it would still be a decades long ROI compared to super chargers.

The other way it makes a lot of sense is it you add all the mentioned hardware to a trailer. Assuming you RV and boondock a lot, it starts to make more sense.

As far as extended range, I am going to wait for the option to replace the current HV battery pack with a new battery tech in the future. My only fear there is Tesla will block/avoid this option because they make more money selling new cars vs upgrading battery packs.

I'll reach out to you, I have 800W of panels that I am mounting to the top of the truck. 12-24V basic solar config (with 100Ah battery as a bucket). Use SCC + SOC + Inverter and wall charge cable to trickle when sitting. Probably 3A-6A 120V. The premise is using when parked at work, camping or on weekends. I'll pull this config to one of my sheds when the experiment is compIete. know, I know, at 2-3 mi/hour and 8-10 hours of sunlight per day this is sub optimal but with a 20 mi daily commute I pretty much get my basic daily travel from the sun and if I'm camping for days might recoup and leave with more SOC then when I got there. I'm interested in numbers and wattage and weight efficiency yada yada.
I would be happy just to offset the vampire drain. I shuffle car and truck from front to back of my house to use the one charging spot in back. It would save me some of that trouble and help maintain both at closer to optimal state of charge.
