I know this is gonna sound stupid, but did you turn on trailer mode? My experience was similar to yours until I did. I have towed box trailers to TSA and been fine. At first I assumed that by plugging the lights in the truck "knew" it was in trailer mode.... Once I actually flipped the button it made all the right calculations and did great.

Yes I definitely had that one and checked that the little icon is green (it's orange when its plugged but not turned on I think)

Well said! and HAHAHA it looks like you're in Cali so you must not be use to Texas size! Thanks for all your help pointing out areas to improve the towing...
I grew up in a rural area, and while I still live in one... our house is a vacation cabin from 1946. And I've driven through Texas. I know how distances work!

It's that speed you can get on the big, flat land that does in your range.

My spouse would love a place like yours ^-^

I need the trees, tho!

Definitely need more trees but it's 50 acres so it needs a LOT of trees! Don't live out there yet but I'm hoping I can spend the weekends there in a few months...

That is beautiful love REDWOODS!

but I'll raise you one up... I've climbed 200 foot redwoods in northern California (Muir Woods, Marine County, etc)...

My neighbor does that! That looks so fun.

I've only done ascending/descending while spelunking.

Weight only applies when you start, or go up hill - the weight needs more energy. But once you're cruising, only the aero applies. And unlike with ICE, you get a large portion of your energy back when you're braking via regen.
Weight increases rolling resistance every mile, it's just a smaller factor (usually) than aero.
A maxed out trailer could add 150 Wh/mile or more.

Can I get a shout out from any one who has towed an Airstream (other than a Basecamp) into MOAB with their CT?

To your last point. I tow a trailer around town and to the dump, and a boat 30 miles to the launch… I think the hitch is valuable… just not for huge toy haulers and long trips.. pretty simple
⬆ THIS. the hitch and towing capability is massively useful and range is fine for many use cases. 160 mile round trips, your gonna have to deal with charging when you buy a 123kwh battery. It’s best people know how this works up front and I’m surprised people who got as far as purchasing the vehicle are still surprised.

Think
non towing at 400-450 wh/mile is amazing, 307 miles 0-100%, real 10-95% 261 miles
towing with a wind resisting trailer, never designed with low Cd at 800-850 wh/mile expected, 154 miles 0-100%, real 10-95% 131 miles

btw, gas PU without a massive tank and towing the same is approx 160 mile range
the terrible Cd kills all range

I pull 28’ enclosed trailer with a 3500 Dodge Ram Diesel, getting 8.5 mpg. 240 mile range using 26 gallons of fuel.

Oh that's awesome! Are you going with Metal trusses similar like mine? I got those from Louisiana and got a pretty good deal on them... the 6x6x20' posts that hold up the trusses I also got those from the same supplier and they were about $90 each so I thought it was a good deal and the availability for 20' long posts in Houston wasn't great. At least at the big box stores.

I got the Lumber from home depot... I've thought about Montablano but figured that I can get them delivered to my ranch for $75 and I already got a Tax exemption with them through my AG-exemption.

Here's some photos of the project:

I've also dug a 1 acre pond at the property... That's where I learned how expensive it is to move dirt around LOL:

That is awesome. Yeah, I learned the same on my property about moving dirt digging the pond LOL. 18ft deep, about 1 acre as well. If you don't mind, can you send me the reference for those metal trusses, your build is EXACTLY what I am looking to do. Maybe a direct msg is better than on this thread so it can stay relevant to the original topic. And your note on using HD for the lumber to get the cheap delivery makes total sense. I only used the specialty lumber place (Bayou City) to get the 12" x 8" piers / pilings for the cabin base since they were treated with .80 CCA (marine salt water treated...will outlive me LOL). Few pics attached during build before I added full covered porches on front and rear.

Forgot that I didn't attach pics of me towing tractor in prior replies. Few random pics about to head out first time (had only 58miles on the truck and I was itching to tow with it before selling my Raptor for good), the range when I was about 1/2 way through battery from 100%, and then charging at SC on way back (thankfully no one there so I just pulled alongside vs dropping trailer to back in...we need more pull through chargers for sure). I know someone said the tractor was more aerodynamic than your ramps but I would beg to differ with that big ass flat windshield.
