Maybe you don't know, but they make enclosed car haulers that will return dramatically better range than the trailer you're using:

Aerovault (bre2.net)

Most people don't understand how important aerodynamics are in reducing fuel consumption. The difference is dramatic.

Thanks for the info. We considered aluminum and enclosed trailers, but decided on something more general purpose.

674wh/mile is max 182 miles. It equals my towing test with airstream bambi 20'. AA is about 5500lb

So for the flat bed with a very aerodynamic vehicle on it, the whole aerodynamic is close to the similar size AA. I don't think an enclosed trailer would provide too much help at this point.

You need photos to compare the aerodynamics, otherwise we're not going to be able to compare oranges to oranges.

Weight really isn't the important part of the calculation. A flip up ramp will be worse than a stowed ramp. Railing sides will be worse than flat bed. Open truss bottom will be worse than closed. Etc.

Most Bambi trailers will be better than toy haulers for height, but also better than a square faced wood frame travel trailer of the same footprint.

That was why i suspect what OP had was a plat bed with a sports car on top. Otherwise no way he can get this efficiency for the same weight as my bambi.
