I’m considering it.

My issue with these tents and the roof top tents is they are often just as difficult to set up as ground based tents.

Do you have a top tent brand recommendation?

They do have the advantage of working in a windy parking lot, tho.

The lawn by the lake, where CT can't get access, would be more suitable for this kind of tent?

Rooftop is more appropriate, more feasible and more attractive the better access improves clambering into the tent. Canopy bed rooftop tents are the easiest access I’ve seen from within the truck bed .v. an outside ladder climb.

Golden era of ground tents is all but over except for backpackers. Car camping is growing. Rooftop tents are transitional. To what? IDK

CyberLandr might be onto something if they overcome pop-down limitations to revolutionize a pickup into a full SUV class vehicle. It is a tall order…not impossible. It might be the $60,000 technological answer to flexible closure tents people want.
