Its a longer video, but WhistlinDiesel subjects both trucks to brutal punishment. None of this was reasonable use, but it was interesting.

Highlights:
  • A chain attached to the tow hitch snapped the aluminum mega cast apart.
  • Jumping took the vault cover off its tracks

Why would he call it a durability test? I cant imagine anyone treating their CT like this. All of the things he did no CT would ever do. I get it the diesel truck guys loved this because they hate the CT. To each their own but after paying 100k for mine its going to last me a long time.

I'm thinking it was damaged by after he went over the logs then after he went over the cement tubes at the end. It was probably pre damaged then he hooked it up and snaP!
The logs were pretty tame. Wes on the Cybertruck team says: "Actually a hitch adapter tow point works really well as a guard for bottoming out or scraping the bumper"

I was pretty dang happy with the CT in that video. Most things have been covered in previous comments. But, a couple I was thinking of weren't:

Some points he prayed as negative were actually positive for me.
1) the pull away fenders. My trucks have faced being scratched by brush and my metal fender flares have had close encounters with trees and rocks - mostly, they brushed against them for minor paint and/or metal work. Also, the have been recipients of "door dings." So, having plastic fender flares that can be easily pulled off and replaced is a huge win for me!

2) the metal trim he pulled off was decorative - not, structural. If damaged it is really replaced. As long as it doesn't come off on it's own in the wind I'm fine with that.

If the doors get slammed really hard and something comes unclipped - as long as I can snap it back in place I'm good. After all stuff came unclipped on the Ford as well as the glass shattering!

RESULTS PAID FOR BY THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY!?

Another BIASED POS report!

why didn’t you also show 12 people beating up Ford while you were inside? (Afraid of getting hurt?)

Most importantly…watch this video …this pos didn’t disclose this!

Tesla better be working on a video that addresses this head on because it's going to really hurt sales otherwise.

Nobody who watches that channel was on the fence about buying a Cybertruck and this was the smoking gun. Just an opinion.

It's not "just" those who watch that channel, it has gone viral all over the internet. What comes out of the video for the layperson is the Cybertruck has a critical safety issue and is not safe for towing, if you don't think that's going to have repercussions I don't know what to tell you. The guy wasn't joking, watch again from 20:18 onward.

@RVAC Again, nobody who is watching that guy was in the market for a Cybertruck and waiting for his assessment before purchasing. The stories don't run without a link to that video, they are inseparable, And nobody with $100,000 in their pocket is making purchasing decisions from the assery of this channel. I'm right, read the comments there's no "well that does it, I'm getting the F-150..."

This part of the video left a bad taste in my mouth. It just looks like it was slapped on there. I'm guessing that's why people were having an issue with the front portion flopping around. The air probably scooped it right up.
No, the issue isnt the manufacturing adhesive. It stems from a bolt coming loose on the front fastener. Remember, it's a trim piece, not a body panel.

the million dollar question would be " how regular steel frame pickup would perform for the exact same drop?
Not really. The question is, would anyone drive the vehicle or attempt to tow it after a fraction of the abuse received? No, they would stop driving it and file an insurance claim, so all this "testing" is pointless. This is a glorified "drop the new iPhone off this building" video.

Here is my own explanation of what he's doing in the video, and I believe no one has actually caught these points yet.
