there was a Forbes article discussing cyber truck production speculating that Tesla might see more like 10% volume growth in cyber truck sales in 2025 as opposed to the projected 20% due to headwinds on EV purchases.

my point is that they are still selling cyber trucks and expected to sell more in 2025 than 2024.

how much 2024 inventory is still sitting around is something that I do not know.Many have seen the YouTube video at some tesla store showing maybe 8 cyber trucks on a lot on Dec 31 (stating there are many more around the corner, which he never bothers to show) and claiming for Clickbait that it is the end of the cyber truck world.

Drove by the holding lot at my local Tesla. I think there were 25+ cyber trucks sitting in the lot. I would have taken a picture but didn't get out of my car.

While there is no way I can get info about total units of inventory locally, I have checked to see what's available in a 50 mile search of 3 Tesla centers in South Florida to see which basic trims (non-beast, non-foundation) are available where. Also note, certain models were on hold (at the factory and at individual tesla locations) for battery and other miscellaneous fixes so that may have affected availability as well.

My point is that in this large metro market, there doesn't seem to be a huge backlog of local inventory on the ground, at least not for the 2025 model year.

I signed my lease 1/31/25 at the higher pricing! Guess there's no recourse to rewrite it even though the prices went down the next day, 2/1/25! Really wish I had not seen this post.

The lease was dated 1/31/25 and I had a delivery appt for 4PM, but had to cancel. Actually delivered 2/1/25 at noon, where I signed the papers and took delivery. Afraid too late for any modifications. Am asking Tesla for some Supercharger credits and store credits. We'll see.

As others have posted in this forum, the monthly lease advertised price has apparently dropped by approximately $150/month. But not sure if the terms were the same. The present $749/mo lease is for:

"Monthly lease payment excludes taxes and fees, is based on $79,990 Cybertruck All-Wheel Drive purchase price and is subject to change at any time. Requires $7,500 down with 36 months and only 10,000 miles. Subject to credit approval and available in select U.S. states."

But as stated above, it's quoted without taxes and fees - with taxes/fees in which case it's really $810/mo for a total lease cost of $38,802 over 3 years.

I don't know what the terms of the previously advertised $999/mo lease were. Does anyone else know?

For better or for worse, Tesla needs to stimulate demand for the CTs, and get inventory out the door. The production slowdown in Texas suggested this might happen. I have been shopping CT leases for the past 10 days in anticipation of a purchase of a base CT ($79,990 plus $1995 dest. fee + $250 order fee plus taxes - plus - plus).

I have been asking Tesla to requote the lease over the past week (that means approve me for specific terms - each time you change a term requires another approval and 48 hour delay!) so I could evaluate the TOTAL COST of the lease to compare with a purchase where I wouldn't be eligible for the $7500 credit, or the lease where of course I would get the credit.

Here's what 36 mo, 12K miles leases are looking like now on the online Tesla lease estimator with either - minimum downpayment, or maximum allowed downpayment against the lease (yes, there is a floor of course, and an upper limit on what you put down against a lease to reduce its cost):

Min down.: 36 mo 12k miles 2702 first payment (includes 1st mo) +1085/mo x 35 months =$40677 total cost of 3 year lease or

Max down 36 mo 12k miles 20492* first payment (includes 1st mo) + 503/mo x 35 months = $38097 total cost of 3 year lease

(for comparison the total quoted cost of a 24 mo lease 12k miles is $33,608 with $2949 down and $1333/mo - not a great value when you can have another year for $7K more in a 36mo lease)

*Interestingly, paying down $17790 extra upfront on that 36 mo lease saves $2580 in interest expense over 3 years. Even if you borrowed money for that extra down payment from another source at 5.9%, it would only cost you $1664 in interest for a net savings of $916 - but I'd probably still rather invest those extra funds somewhere for a chance at a higher return, and keep the money in my pocket.

For the reasons above, I'm now leaning towards:

but by the time the final lease paperwork was calculated, it turned into, with no explanation other than take it or leave it:

"Min down.: 36 mo 12k miles 2702 first payment (includes 1st mo) +1203/mo x 35 months =$44807 total cost of 3 year lease ($7500 incentive and loyalty discount $1k was applied to get to this total)"

note: I have top tier credit.

If this was a car like an ICE mercedes benz, I'd buy it out of the lease right now, and hold it for years. But with the CT and all its unique tech, its future is uncertain, future parts availability is uncertain, and depreciation as well as repair costs out of warranty could make it next to worthless down the road.

That being said, I wish I had TWO of them.
