It only takes about 4 seconds to turn a Cybertruck doubter into a Cybertruck lover. You just give them a ride and demonstrate how it rides as smoothly as a luxury car, show them how it can self-drive, let them know it can rock climb like a jeep, and then as you pull on to a highway tell them that it out-accelerates just about every sports car ever produced. Would you like to see? And then show them by going from 0 to 60 in 4 seconds. You'll see a look of terror, surprise, and relief as you stop the acceleration. And then, after recovering, they'll ask if you can do that again. I've never given a ride to a doubter who came back without a look of awe and admiration on their face about the Cybertruck.

I've been flipped off, yelled at, criticized, and scowled at by a tiny percentage of strangers about my Cybertruck compared to those who love it, which is around 95%. It used to bother me a little that some people judged me harshly about it, but now I actually like it. Because it's not only important to be admired by people who you admire. It's just as important to be disapproved of by those who are jealous, cultish, or petty about your choices. It helps you to tell who's who.

We early adopters are all ambassadors in helping others understand this highly innovative and unusual truck to help sway public opinion so that others can experience a vehicle that is truly ground-breaking and remarkable.

You nailed it. I’m really over seeing so much hate and negativity online, it’s nice to read something positive for a change. I love this truck so much, I’ve had many other great cars but this one’s special, and it genuinely puts a smile on my face every time I drive it, or even see it just parked in my garage. I grew up watching the jetsons and my entire life I’ve been one of those folks who asked “where’s the future?” Now finally I legitimately feel like I experience it every day because of the cybertruck. Thing is, most people just don’t get it, they don’t know what they don’t know and haven’t experienced. We can’t change that all by ourselves, however we can still be positive and excited about these incredible machines, disregard the temporary hate and nonsense surrounding it, and show those within our reach what they are really like, a small bite of the future. Gotta love it.

Oh, how right you are!

A friend of mine, a 70 year old EV skeptic (and even more of an EV truck skeptic), was checking mine out in my driveway. Back in his younger days he had a 1 ton old school 4x4 work truck that he loved. I told him many of the strong points but he still seemed skeptical. It might have been partly because he is on a very limited fixed income. He did concede that he would like to drive it someday so I said "You can drive it right now if you want."

5 minutes into the test drive, after noticing how responsive the steer by wire was, how quiet and smooth it rode, how great the stereo sounded (he's a musician), how quick it accelerated, how supportive the seat was, etc, he said in an adamant tone "I want this. I mean, this is the truck I would buy!" He then added in a less adamant tone, "Well, I would if I could afford one".

Awesome, that’s what I’m talking about. Change is usually very difficult for most people but we also adapt very quickly. Did you tell him the price was dropped and he can get a $7500 credit? Loll

No, he can't afford ANY newer truck, not even a used entry-level Ford Ranger that gets 19 MPG, so I'm not going to rub it in.

I did experience this with a friend’s father. After we got back home he didn’t see why anyone would buy any other truck. Fun. I used to give rides in my 3 all the time to doubters. Now it’s just friends. People are a lot less kind with the truck.

My fav is "it doesn't do truck things." Then I ask like what specifically. Usually they have no idea except they were told to believe that as a fact.

I encountered my first bit of negativity a couple of days ago: had the truck parked in front of a restaurant and, when we came out after our meal and started driving, I noticed a piece of paper under the wiper. It turned out someone had written "Dork" on a piece of paper and put it under the wiper. I got quite a chuckle out of imagining someone going to all that trouble (he'd traced the letters several times for added emphasis) and laughed as I wondered what the best case scenario for him was - what on earth was the end game? That I concede the point and return the truck?!? I'm sure he's telling all his friends of the bold thing he did. It made my day. Unfortunately I didn't have sentry on to get a look at him. And who knows, maybe I *am* a dork.

Other than that, it's been all positivity: smiles and waves and selfies and videos. The truck has really been a joy distribution machine in these parts.

But seriously, we shouldn't need to do this for Tesla. If only the part-time CEO Chief had kept his mouth shut and his arms down.

Americans like finding causes for themselves, especially if it involves group think. For some, hating Cybertruck is the extension of the cause to hate evil billionaire misogynists. For others it's the holy mission of spreading the gospel of technological innovation and impractical (0-60 acceleration) coolness.

Can you both get a life and do something meaningful with it ? Now that would be something.

It seems to me that there's been two types of "hating." The original haters became known when the CT was unveiled in 2019. Basically they hated the aesthetics. The second type of hater started surfacing a couple of years ago when Elon started doing things like buying twitter and becoming politically active and outspoken. If he would've just kept creating amazing technology and kept his mouth shut it would've been better.

But here's the one thing I don't understand: Elon IS Tesla and undeniably connected with every model of Tesla ever built. But for some reason, the Elon haters only get upset at the sight of a Cybertruck. Seeing a Model Y, X, 3 and so on doesn't seem to bother them at all. Does anyone have an explanation for this?

A CT won't please some rednecks because it's an EV, not diesel. And it won't please those on the left determined to treat anything as tainted because of Elon.

But mainly a CT is very distinctive, while the S, 3, X, Y aren't particularly (except the X with the doors open); there are other cars and SUVs with somewhat similar shapes. Those other than the CT (and eventually the Cybertaxi, and perhaps the new Y with some family resemblance in the front) will largely go unnoticed by wannabe Elon haters.

That's a bunch of BS. Anti-Elon, anti-EV narratives were strong, long before Elon raised his palm to the crowd and long before he let us know his political thoughts.

And the only reason he let us know his political thoughts was because he could see how the current politics were holding back the success of humanity. And he's an experienced problem solver who knows no boundaries, so he set out to fix it. The people who said Elon doesn't understand politics were dead wrong.

Contrary to popular media narratives, it wasn't out of greed, but out of concern for the direction of humanity.
