I've setup a standard 12V 12K winch powered by two gen2 Nissan Leaf modules. It's a very versatile setup because it can be hitch-mounted on the rear of the truck, or "cable" mounted to the front recovery hooks, or... even used without the truck altogether as a portable winch. Those Leaf modules are 66Ah and can handle up to 5C continuously so that's approximately 4.9kW (6.5HP) at nominal voltage. Given it's only 4 cells in series (4s2p) their health can be monitored manually and no BMS is really necessary but can be added if desired, along with a 400A fuse.

I guess another thing to add - that's approx 1kWh of capacity, enough for about 10 mins of winching at full load.

That’s awesome.
Would you mind snapping a shot next to something commonly identifiable? A hand? A soda can, that sort of thing?
It looks very compact for 1kwh

Just get a small cranking battery for cheap, mount it somewhere under the frunk cover, and hook it up to the front 48v power with a solar controller. Just turn on front power to maintain it.

I've seen people talking about those batteries. They' re really popular for a lot of DIY projects.
Interesting approach. How much does that unit weigh and how long does it take to charge?
Should be about 17lb total. Charging time naturally depends on the output current of the charger - I have a universal charger with 25A max so it would charge those modules in about 2 hours from 15-20 to 100%.

I will do that tomorrow, but in terms of specs those modules are 11.93 x 8.78 x 1.38 inches, so the full package is about 11.93 x 8.78 x 2.76

66Ah * 7.4V * 2 = 976.8Wh

So I have one of these which would work as a nice dc battery charger/controller/maintainer.

and I think I’d plug into my small 1kwh delta 3 plus. That would give me a nice inverter if I needed it in that location too and the capacity for 1000w of solar through two mppt’s.
Off the cuff, how many of those do you think would fit in the smugglers den under the vault?

Not a bad idea with the charge controller. Why would you need the Ecoflow though as you have plenty of power in the cybertruck?

Because I’d use the battey packs that are being maintained by the alternator charger to hold the solar power generated over a day. This would come from the 1000w solar input on the delta 3 plus. I’d then use that to trickle charge the car while I’m stopped and camping.
I would just plug the mobile connector into the Ecoflow outlets and charge the truck at 1.8 kw.
This would disable the truck outlets but that’s ok because I can plug any camping equipment I need also into the Ecoflow power station..
When the car sleeps or charges you lose nothing but when you plug into the bed outlets you burn miles.

That’s about what I pictured. I can see 3 of those fitting side by side in the sub trunk. Maybe 6 with a little rack that allows stacking?
So that would mean 6kwh right?

Well, one gen2 module is almost even 500Wh. So 6 modules (in any arrangement) is roughly 3kWh. I am pretty sure you'd be able to fit a lot more into that storage space, likely getting close to the max WEIGHT limit before you use up all the space.
