Dl_a139 error - Rear Motor Disabled and Speed Limited to 51 MPH

1st problem at 17k miles… and it’s a big one

400 miles into my (1000 mile) road trip i lost power and got the error Dl_a139. It disabled the rear motor and limits me to 51mph. The only bright side is I’m getting incredible efficiency with only the front motor and low wind resistance. Im up to 330 wh/mi!
Maybe this is what that new motor swap/upgrade is for?

How early of vin? And how many miles?

The same thing just happened to me. About 5000+ miles on the truck. VIN 1964. Was driving about 30mph when the truck abruptly shuddered like I slammed on the brakes and made a loud thunk from the back. I’m currently in limp mode and awaiting service as the vehicle had to be towed into the shop. I’ll let you know what they say. This are my alerts.

Update from today.

Dropped off the truck at the service center, and to my surprise, there is an another individual there for the exact same reason! The other truck also had the exact same issues and errors. Early VINs. After talking with the service center rep, he reported that personally had seen about 17 of these in recent months just by himself. so it looks like a recall may be eminent.

Just happened to mine yesterday. VIN 2154, about 9,800 miles. Just wanted to post for documentation purposes.

Tesla service center is closed in Rocklin because it’s under construction. I called Sacramento service and they had me tow it to Stockton and they expedited the service appointment (from 10/21 to 10/8).

I requested (and got) a model X plaid loaner.

This just happened to me today when making a turn on a residential street. Felt like I hit a curb when it happened. VIN 176. 11k miles

So now at 25k miles after inverter replaced and module back in August, Rear High Voltage Issue, No Coolant Flow to rear motor, steering disabled shows up. Shows famous line..."get out truck and get back in, might reset"...I did it and cleared.....wtf? Going back in to the shop just in case!! 6th time since owning from February.

I had this happen to my 2024 AWD FS CT yesterday. Was driving only 10 mph to go over a speed bump and heard a thump then got the rear motor disabled messages. Created service ticket and Tesla road side service towed it to the SC. Will hopefully get a loaner tomorrow when the SC opens.

Why now? Weird.....Did you do the recall for both front and rear?

SC fixed this issue and only took a few hours. Service said this is a common problem with Tesla's.
