Do you think the width of the bed, between the points of the wheel-wells, is...

We've had much handwringing since someone said the bed was 4' by 6'. We don't know who, but they're presumably an employee. But we also don't know how they were measuring it, or if they were rounding any.

If we assume 80 -82 inch wide truck that leaves about 16 inches for each wheel which is plenty even with steering and air strut. Bed will not be less than 48 between wells.
If we stick with Musk stated 82 inch that is 17 inches for the well. Tires are probably 9 inches. Which leaves 8 inches for air strut.
Front strut looks about 6 inches diameter assume same part for rear. Clearance tire to strut 1 inch leaves 1 inch left over for bed side thickness / air strut clearance on inside...
Bed is gonna be 49 inches....

There is no vertical air suspension strut on the rear suspension. So no need to include that, its some sort of pushrod setup thar doesn't takebup any width. So the main thing for clearance is the steering angle on the rear axle and the wheel diameter, and tyre width. That's also why the wheel arches is so long. Also the rear axle is in the middle of the CT bed unlike the F150 that has the rear wheel on the front part of the bed.

We’re gonna need a longer alphabet :ROFLMAO:

Tesla Cybertruck Do you think the bed width is... 6F43525F-1EA4-4CDC-A072-CCC05E381CD6

Like the CT’s advertised towing capacity, the CT’s bed width (and length) is going to be “infinite”:

Tesla Cybertruck Do you think the bed width is... FAEB333E-1B0B-4F0A-8FA8-E1A8252DC07E

But the below dimensions at the bed level will surely be about 50” wide by ~72” long (to receive a few pieces of 4X8 plywood with the tailgate down) - anything less would be Tesla conceding superior functionality to the legacy 1/2 ton trucks:

Tesla Cybertruck Do you think the bed width is... 7E78714E-5B5B-45B6-A773-0CA1768A8CB2

Whereas in the below image the shortest bed length at the bulkhead (in green with white arrow) will be about 5’5” (again, to remain competitive with legacy 1/2 ton trucks), and at the roof line (in yellow with purple arrow) about 5’ (less than legacy 1/2 ton):

In all, functionally, it will offer about the same usefulness of legacy 1/2 ton trucks like the F150 SuperCrew short bed.

On one hand, the CT will have some areas with longer dimensions than a legacy 1/2 ton (e.g. a small portion of the bed with 6’ length); on the other hand, it will have some areas with shorter dimensions than a legacy (e.g., most portions of the bed width constrained by wheel wells to only ~50).

All these minor deltas between a CT bed and a legacy 1/2 ton short bed will average out to allow Tesla to emphasize a cumulative bed cargo area calculation that is equal to legacy 1/2 ton bed cargo area.

F150 has 50" between the wheel wells. It'll be close to that. What has been hard for me is being able to tell with the angles in the bed what direction the front panel of the bed is sloping. From that ~3" apparently vertical section at the floor, does the front panel slope towards the tailgate or towards the front of the truck?

My guess considering the tonneau cover rolls in that general area is that the front panel is actually sloped forward towards the rear window, but the angles make it like trying to tell if an F-117 is coming or going.

from that ~3” section at the floor, it begins to slope up/back toward the tailgate considerably. Then just below the window, if flattens again. Then above the window, an additional slope is created by the roofline extending back towards the tailgate further than the window. See photos in my post above and below.

it’s always been this way, since early prototypes

As I mentioned in another thread, I think the ridges from edge to edge and front to back with the tailgate down will be exactly 4'x8'. That would put the overall bed at around 52"ish x 74"ish.

Makes sense after looking at that explanation as well as some early prototypes. Makes sense given the roof overhang would make the space almost unusable anyway for anything taller than the window.

F-150 bed width between wheels is 51". The CT bed width between wheels will be right around 51".
