I guess, like many things, the 'quality' of a product can make a difference as well...There is much FUD. I have had two magnets on my truck for four+ months with no corrosion. Will get some pics and post them, maybe I'll even record a video removing them just in case there is a surprise - or not.
I wonder if having stronger or weaker magnetic backing makes a difference also... Does the stronger one 'pull' or keep metallic flakes, dust and debris OR is it better because it isn't as likely to allow something under it AND there would be less 'shifting' to grind stuff around?
My wife had a smaller magnet (ribbon type) on the back and it didn't have any issues, but I did notice dirt accumulating on the 'edges' of it (so I took it off and did a quick cleaning and put it back on), but it didn't do anything underneath... BUT of course someone either stole it or it 'fell off' somehow...
