I'm guessing vaporware, and I doubt it comes to production, but if someone wanted to take the CT and make it look more conventional and then name it after Tesla's human rival...oh wait, I guess that's what they did. I do like the bed cover idea.

Oh I love this concept.

Only real-world problem I would have with it is that the cover doesn't quite get out of the way enough. Part of the appeal of the CT is the cover is 100% gone when not needed/wanted.

That cover is a huge waste. How do I put a refrigerator in that truck bed or my bikes for that matter?

Also, not even a very good render if they are serious. They should hook up with the guys who do the Alpha Wolf, that guy knows how to put together a mean render.

Seems like someone is trying to come up with a “Better Cybertruck” with flat sides and ended up with something with even more compromised bed access than Tesla.

So they use Edison nickel iron batteries with 25Wh/kg energy density? Sweet! ;-)

The cover design means you can't put anything in the bed that is higher than the sidewalls of the bed. Surely it lifts up somehow to load it?

Nah, just a mock up made by a guy who has never owned a pickup truck.

How would you install a lumber rack on that truck? It’s weird on a Tesla but entirely possible. This thing is just a toy.

It doesn't get enough out of the way for me...

...But it might work for someone else.

Is there any other info on it or pictures of the interior? Does it have incandescent chandelier? Does it measure energy consumed by weighing plates? Does it have brushed DC motors?

There's a whole website. Lots of renders.

Curious, why do you like the cover when closed?

1. Solar?
2. Sidewalls with cover?
3. Rigid sections?

what if there was a deck lid, folded up to allow the cover to drop down and cover close to protect? Would this complicated approach be preferable to the tonneau cover?

I would want more sections, so it would take up less space when it's open, but I like that it's aero when closed and has the solar included. It's not without its faults, but since it's not going under the bed, maybe we'd still have room for that full-size spare tire!

I'm not sure I understand that question. Folded up where? Like a normal folding cover?

Given the issues Faraday Future has had with getting a vehicle to market; naming a new EV startup "<Famous scientist known for work with electricity>Future" comes off as a troll job to me. It's getting hard to keep track of all the EV startups that have announced a vehicle and shown off renders or a prototype with very little explanation of where their funding is coming from. I see on EdisonFuture's initial press release that they are a wholly owned subsidy of SPI Energy.

I'm not a financial expert by any means, but I was looking at the financial information available for SPI Energy on the web and don't have a strong sense that they alone have the financial resources to develop a top of the line vehicle, develop or license top quality software for the vehicle, and build or rent a factory to build said vehicle.

I wish I could look at something like this with optimism, but there are just too many EV startups that seem like they are throwing out concepts hoping an angel investor steps in an makes it reality and lets them tag along for the ride.

Of the EV only manufacturers that aren't Tesla, Rivian is the only one I have any faith in possibly making it right now; and that's largely on the suspicion that Amazon is not done investing in them. I'd really like to start seeing some distancing between the pretenders and the contenders in EV manufacturing, because having dozen's of companies showing off renders of hypothetical vehicles with specs that may or may not be grounded in reality isn't going to do anything to reduce consumer confusion or boost consumer confidence in EVs.

Misstated folded. Retracted stacked and the lowerd flush to bed with a cover lid on top. Basically, the cover is completely hidden from view in the open position.

These guys and Alpha Wolf are right on the cusp of greatness. They just need a couple more years for 3d printing and “Render to Reality” technology to be invented. Just need a little more venture capital.
