Everyone should take a minute to read Tesla’s Master Plan Part Deux

https://www.tesla.com/blog/master-plan-part-deux

Some of what y’all mention (I believe a van is covered under section 2) is already covered there.

Expand to Cover the Major Forms of Terrestrial Transport
Today, Tesla addresses two relatively small segments of premium sedans and SUVs. With the Model 3, a future compact SUV and a new kind of pickup truck, we plan to address most of the consumer market. A lower cost vehicle than the Model 3 is unlikely to be necessary, because of the third part of the plan described below.
Aside from covering most any consumer vehicles it is interesting that he mentions this far back that it’s likely they won’t need a car below the Model 3 due to autonomy. Seems to contradict what he said on battery day and this preceded battery day. In the recent shareholders meeting he’s gone back to assuming lower cost vehicles won’t be necessary. Perhaps a crisis of faith around battery day on autonomy?

For Part 3, I’m almost certain Optimus will be part of it.

Most first world economies are transitioning from a glut of labor to a labor shortage due in a large part to aging populations. That is exactly the sort of tough problem I think Musk would like to tackle.
