I was getting a persistent "camera misaligned error" that turned off FSD, TACC, and many of the vision based safety systems. Service analyzed the telemetry and thought the fix would be a front camera pitch adjustment, very easy to do. But then the service advisor comes to the waiting room and says, we discovered the camera mount has detached from the windshield, and the fix is...... replace the windshield!
Without a warranty that would be $2000 for the glass and then labor. And my windshield had a ceramic tint on it. Fortunately, due to some wrinkles in the film that was going to be redone anyway.

If this was not a warranty fix I’d see about trying some double-sided tape. Even with it being a warranty fix I’d hesitate. Seems like when the SC touches something it is never quite right again.
