Falling Asleep with FSD

Has anyone ever slept during FSD?
I am pretty sure I was dozed in and out (mostly out) for about an hour and a half last night on my way home from a long trip. (End of trip).

Nope, Elon (the FSD) gets very annoying. Have I dozed off, yes and the beep beep “pay attention” comes up. Car seems to know when I’m about to get sleepy, blinks become longer and longer till Beep beep. Sometimes it’s a struggle. It would be nice tho when they make it happen.

I can't wait until this technology gets better. I have a relative on anti-seizure medicine, she is cleared to drive by MD, but still extremely concerned about having another seizure while driving.

Tesla software that would turn on flashers and pull over... maybe even call 911 would be a godsend!

I was just talking about this to a co-worker. While driving my ICE cars, nodding off was so dangerous as you never knew where the car was going to end up. Happened more than it should have during my long drives in my college years.

I feel a little safer that if I am dumb enough to nod off again, at least the truck will try to wake me up or at least pull over. Killer feature that I feel is not talked about much.

Tesla software that would turn on flashers and pull over... maybe even call 911 would be a godsend!

FSD will do this. We know it will put on flashers and pull over, but Elon says it will call 911 as well if the driver is incapacitated.

After over 12k miles on FSD - it is easy to trust FSD to the point of falling asleep. To an extent it is a bit scary but I have dozed off a couple times on a long trip and truck did not alert me. But every time it was under a minute and in driving posture at night.

yes, but you likely can't get away with it if you have absolutely any strikes on your FSD record.

Yep - wife says I nodded off for 30 minutes on our drive across the country on the 40. She said she did not wake me as the car was doing fine without my supervising. I assume I kept my head up and had sunglasses on and a hat -

Again - as I have posted elsewhere - just completed a drive from Temecula Calif to Knoxville tn - total drive 4,880 miles - and on FSD 95% of the time - not one intervention- my wife got one strike - watching the scenery too long. The car was driving autonomously essentially- took us from drive charger to the next - calculated the needed charge to create a 15% reserve so only stay at each charger for 10-20 minutes and then it says “ you can continue your drive” — truck was smooth and quiet on the road, comfortable - no other vehicle existing would have been as easy and comfortable or safer on this cross country drive.

We did 750 miles a day - just like sitting on a plane in business class. The cybercooler kept our drinks nice and cold also — and this was with a spare wheel and tire ( very heavy) and a cybertent as well. The extra weight was no problem either.

I was impressed over the 16,000 local miles in the cyberbeast but the additional 4800 miles over this trip was even more impressive. My extolling the virtues of this vehicle has pissed off my friends who love their ICE vehicles -

Multiple times. If you fall asleep a few times in a row FSD will recommend pulling over.

I drive 300 miles from Chicago to Detroit and back (600 miles roundtrip) once a month.
I94 at the Indiana - Illinois border is always stopband go traffic (even at 1AM - Indiana drivers are terrible

Two months ago, coming home in the evening, I fell asleep in Indiana (stop-go traffic) and the car woke me up in Illinois when traffic started to speed up.

I do not drive home in the evening anymore. On my last trip I stayed the extra night, had a free breakfast in the morning with lots of coffee and drove home refreshed.

It will allow You to dose off but try picking up your cell phone, does it set off alert? With sun glasses on, I have found I can close my eyes for many miles without any alerts, I don’t feel comfortable while “testing” (supervised) FSD limits (I don’t test unless my wife is in car), makes wonder when “Full” FSD arrives will I be able let go and sleep between super charging stops on long trips. I am not sure.

last year two electrical workers were hit and killed walking on the side of the hi way by a person having a seizure. I've stated many times this would not have happened in a Tesla and I've gotten no response, not even a "really?". Finally our pastor this week has experienced a Tesla from a relative in Austin and it was evened mentioned in Church how impressive it was. So maybe now opinions are beginning to change. pastor is headed for vacation in Norway next week.

Was coming home one night and unexpectedly got a bad case of the nods. If I wasn't using FSD would have had the anxiety to help keep me awake. But I was pretty confident fsd had my back.

If I ever get in an accident, I'm pretty sure (1) I will need to review the dashcams to see what actually happened and (2) it will be the other driver's fault. This is because I'm rarely paying attention any more. FSD makes navigational and etiquette mistakes but lately has not been making ANY safety mistakes and will not allow itself to hit anything or be hit by anything.

You guys are crazy!
I've been drowsy using FSD but never fallen asleep. That would scare the hell out of me even though I now trust FSD more than I trust other drivers on the road.

I have definitely had the thought in urban driving that everyone is safer if I turn it over to FSD. And have done so with a feeling of relief. Downtown Vancouver.
