Exterior components add weight and drag. The air suspension and compressor will always be there, and I doubt it takes much power to operate.

I recently rented a F150 and had to leap up into the driver's seat. I really hope the CT has easier ingress.

EV vendors are saying it takes energy to preheat/precondition the car and batteries. Wouldnt it seem like a waste of energy to get the car to squat and raise every time you exited the vehicle
Yes, but you already want to run at the lowest clearance needed to increase range and stability.

I just need to be able to flip user preferences quickly before entering. My entry height is A little higher than my wife’s. Enjoyable at times to see her scramble.

You just unlock the car before it can unlock for her, and it'll use your preferences. Teslas are super-automatic.

I definitely agree with that. This truck should have retractable running boards. I am sure if they don’t come stock there will be a lot of aftermarket options

The CT is capable of floating. If you start making holes in the bottom, where does the water go?

In April of last year there was a similar topic question. If you watch the launch day video you can watch the suspension change throughout:

5:25 even, off-road nominal?
13:16 front lower, rear higher
17:15 both full height?
21:03 front high, rear lowest?
21:59 standard road height?

Elon is 6'2", you can use him as a height gauge for measurements on the Cybertruck.

(based on the range of motion I personally see no need for "factory" running boards. And I don't believe it's an energy suck to adjust the suspension. But I guarantee the aftermarket add-ons will include some sort of assisted step for those who think they need it. There's money to be made for aftermarket things for customization.)

I was talking about how big the CT is with my wife and she said "your mother is never going to be able to get into this"...Given that only the rear end drops for loading, how much would that lower the entry height for a passenger?
The obvious answer is to load your mother into the back.

Pretty sure it'll just do that in 'park'. I can think maybe on a rough surface you might not want it to ground out, but that's the outlier, really.

Like the S and X it could be geofenced.

I reckon if your mother in Law can't get in, the waiting list will top 10 million.

Lifting 2700kg 0.4m takes about 70Wh using air suspension, so less than a quarter mile of range? But driving on and off a highway ramp would be more of a altitude difference? I'd imagine over the life of the vehicle running boards mass would use more energy. Plus much safer to step on solid ground than slipping of a running board.

But in saying that my Landcruiser had running boards, good to clean your feet on before getting in, and for 4x4 spotters to jump on when off road whilst heading to the next challenge. Can also help against panel damage, but might result in reduced clearance if not done right.

All cars float for a little while. They won’t rate the CT to float and it will very likely void the warrantee if they can prove it saw flood conditions.
