I just received my email to order. However, I’m not wanting to spend the extra 20k on the foundation. It doesn’t give me an option. Advice? Direction?

Oof. I know what I'd do, but only you know what's right for you.
I'd run the numbers:
1. Are the tangible extras worth the $20k?
2. How about the intangibles? How bad do you want it now?
2a. If you want it now, do you get the Dual? or wait for the Cyberbeast?
2.b. Will it push you off another year if you don't get the Foundation series?
3. What is the $20k worth to you right now?
4. Are you looking for better resale? the $20k may not be a good investment...

If you’re not keen on the extra $20k fee for Foundation, once you get the call you can ask to have your reservation put on hold until non-Foundation begins production. Weigh the pros and cons and see what the best choice is for you.

I think Your pretty Lucky. The Foundation Series is going to be Collectable in a few years. I am a Long term Tesla Guy. My Model 3 is just turning 100,000 miles . I think it is the Best Car I have ever had . My Reservation number is 1205121XX . I am considering buying one from a dealer . But TESLA does not want us to do that. So I am thinking I am going to have to wait until 2025. I am going to put a Salt/Sander in the Back of the Truck and use it for Salting Parking Lots in The Winter. The Stainless Steel does not mind Rock Salt.

There are a bunch of threads that ask this exact question, but the summary is the same.
  • Can you afford it?
  • Foundation series isn't a limited run like Signature for S & X, it won't be "collectible"
  • Is the extra bundle worth $20K to you
  • Can you use PowerShare
  • Nobody knows what the regular CT will include or when it will be released

I've been in the same boat since I got my invitation in March. I am of the thought "tomorrow is never promised" and if the 20k additional doesn't sting that bad, then pull the trigger. For me, I know that this truck is eventually going to be in the 60's, key word "eventually" as production ramp increases and COGS are reduced. We have seen this price decrease on all models, especially the S and X and it is in the cards for Tesla to do so.

Those paying the extra $ are not buying these vehicles as investments but just for fun and wanting to be early adopters. Is the truck worth 100-100k in my opinion? Maybe if the towing was there and if we could indeed see the 500 miles on a single charge. That would give the towing a solid 200 miles. I don't see the value. I do see it at 80k with the tax rebate (hopefully) at $72,500. I just bought a Plaid with the track package last week so I have something to play with while I wait!

I agree with you. I just received my email last week. I’m not in a hurry, and would rather save the 20 k! Placed my order December 2019. So, I will wait

Still sitting on my March 5th FS invite. In my state and county the FS AWD trim would be around $110,000 “out the door”.

I predict we will see non-FS order books open in Q4 for 2025 models.
