Ha…just got notified as well for 14.2.1.

Bitching on public forums works! :D
Ha, mine too!
Tesla Cybertruck FSD 14.2.1 (Update 2025.38.9.6) Rolling Out 1764618269931-zl

Glad to see I'm not the only one frustrated by the speed limit problems. It will either go 53 in a 60 on hurry mode or 70 on Mad Max. There's no in-between because it thinks the speed limit is 45. Super frustrating. I sent Tesla dozens of messages, so hopefully, along with this forum, they will pay attention and fix this issue.
I appreciate all the upgrades towards autonomous driving, but I really want my ability to set max speed returned so I can go faster or slower than what the truck erroneously thinks is the speed limit. In 14 you can flip the scroll wheel left or right to change profiles. - if they would return driver speed override to the scroll wheel like in 13, then just about all of my problems with 14 would simply disappear.

I was driving at night last night and it phantom brakes hard in middle of the drive for no reason. No rain, no leaves, nothing. Hopefully this update gets rids of map and these phantom events.
The hard emergency phantom braking is frightening.

Praying that the highway performance of FSD and horrendous map performance get fixed back to 14.1.7! That is all I am asking!
That surprising. I have seen massive improvements in 14.2 when compared to the previous versions. Been driving 99% FSD.
Update 2025.38.9.6 (FSD 14.2.1)
Full Self-Driving (Supervised) v14.2.1 includes:

- Upgraded the neural network vision encoder, leveraging higher resolution features to further improve scenarios like handling emergency vehicles, obstacles on the road, and human gestures. (New in FSD V14.2)

- Added Arrival Options for you to select where FSD should park: in a Parking Lot, on the Street, in a Driveway, in a Parking Garage, or at the Curbside.

- Added handling to pull over or yield for emergency vehicles (e.g. police cars, fire trucks, ambulances).

- Added navigation and routing into the vision-based neural network for real-time handling of blocked roads and detours.

- Added additional Speed Profile to further customize driving style preference.

- Improved handling for static and dynamic gates.

- Improved offsetting for road debris (e.g. tires, tree branches, boxes).

- Improve handling of several scenarios including: unprotected turns, lane changes, vehicle cut-ins, and school busses.

- Improved FSD's ability to manage system faults and recover smoothly from degraded operation for enhanced reliability.

- Added alerting for residue build-up on interior windshield that may impact front camera visibility. If affected, visit Service for cleaning!

- Added automatic narrow field washing to provide rapid and efficient front camera self-cleaning, and optimize aerodynamics wash at higher vehicle speed. (2026+ Model Y only)

- Camera visibility can lead to increased attention monitoring sensitivity. (New in FSD v14.2.1)

Upcoming Improvements:

- Overall smoothness and sentience.

- Parking spot selection and parking quality.

Mine is downloading now. FSD 14.2 has been so good for me, with 99% driving FSD. Truthfully, the only time I drive is parking lots. I also experienced an error right after the 14.2 update that caused me to drive for about 1.5 miles before ai coil pull over, reboot the computer and restart. I suspect that error is one of the items fixed in 14.2.1.

Phantom braking at night and the speed profiles being neutered a bit are my two concerns. Hurry mode won't readily go in left lane on freeway.

This happens to me, too. It’s so severe and unpredictable that I just don’t use FSD 14 at night or I’ll risk getting rear-ended.

All my Teslas are now running V14.2.1.
They are now able to response appropriately when encountering an emergency vehicle. Giving me the option to pull into my Universal Connector spot or just an empty spot at my house. Actively dodging road debris and some manholes. Slowing down for flashing school zone lights.
And, under FSD, each of my three Cyberbeasts has a unique demeanor (they each drive differently while on the same stretch of roads)—it’s almost like they have personalities. FSD is slowly starting to behave like a sentient life form...

They need to fix the mad max changing lanes. It gets to be to much when theres open road and contiusly changing lanes. Ill be on the highway and the 2 lane express riding in the fast lane and pass a car and then 5 sec later signal blinker to get over into his lane.

wish you could cancel lane change while in fsd

For now, a quick way is to depress the turn signal button again and most of the time, it will cancel the lane change 🤷‍♂️
I'm sure future updates will mitigate this(y)

Just installed it. I will be taking a road trip tomorrow, about 200 miles. I hope it fixes the issue of not seeing 70 mph speed limit signs. Other than that it’s been an improvement over 13.9.2.

Not on my Cyberbeasts but on a 2026 Model X while Mad Maxing on the freeway, it literally went beyond the FSD's maximum speed limit of 85mph; an alarm and visual warning came on and it then back off to around 83-84mph! FSD was being warned by the Cyberbeast to behave 😝

Did your Cybertruck failed to see the 70mph speed limit sign or it simply chose to ignore the 70mph sign? Hmm...

Just joined the forum. 1st post just throwing it out my 2 cents for what it's worth
I'm wondering if some of the problems are lessened in areas where the Tesla population is greater. I'm in the Chicago suburbs and there is literally more teslas on the roads on my drives than any other car...it's that saturated. I have only good things to report on the entire 14.2 stack (currently 14.2.1)
The amazing:
- have had zero safety disengagements since downloading all v14 versions
- speed profiles seem to be Standard at +5 over speed limit; Hurry +10 and Mad Max 15+ over. On the freeway it drives like me, cutting up traffic but in a safe manner always using signals and giving other drivers notice of my intent
- 98% accuracy on navigation data with the occasional possibly slightly longer route chosen compared to what I might have chosen myself. What's really interesting and was really impressed by is that it learned on it's own over about a week of me disengaging my truck taking the "technically" correct turn into my subdivision as there is another unlabeled street you can cut down for faster access to the development. Now it's like it learned that I wasn't liking that route and uses that other small entrance/exit
- it will pull directly into my garage head on when coming home. Does a great job except for the fact that I have a 20ft garage that I literally have to pull 2 inches from the wall to get my truck to fit with the garage door closed. I wish it would/could back itself in as I don't feel as comfortable using the front camera as I do the rear for super accurate within inches parking. To be honest I don't even know if it could be programmed to do what I do as one super small misstep and I'm taking out the hvac and water heater behind the wall of my garage lol
- it drove flawlessly in this 8 inches of snow we received last weekend...I was blown away actually. The way it pulled away from stops without sliding out...which took very precise input from the accelerator which to be honest I could barely do. Also started slowing down way ahead of time when approaching stop lights and stop signs or cars pulling in front of me. Any sliding out it did do was met with instant near perfect counter steering. The speed it kept even in mad max mode was super comfortable and never made me nervous. Even when put through its paces at might while pretty hard snow was falling it still did the same amazing job. There were times where it had to dodge snow banks that protruded out in the road or roads that had zero lane markings at all. It even moved out of the way of a plow that was coming up pretty aggressively behind me to let it pass. I don't think I can put into words what an achievement out of anything FSD has done prior was the drives it made in the snow. Truly remarkable and this is just my opinion only, and take it with a grain of salt if the area I live or whatever any other factors could affect my experience but I now have almost total faith of it handling anything snow related that's thrown at it

The "needs improvement":

Parking is pretty bad. It never parks in the spot closest to where I need to go regardless of where the actual pin on the navigation is. When it does choose a spot it does do a great job even in tight spots at least but I'm not in the mood to walk the extra distance from where that actual spot is when there were plenty closer to the entrance of where I'm going. I'm confident it will improve over time but it's kind of funny that the truck can navigate through 8 inches of snow at night with literally no street lines in sight and countersteer in mild slides in low traction yet parks at the least appropriate parking spot in reference to my destination. Puzzling lol
