It shouldn’t be this difficult but I am not able to find a $40-$50 wired game controller that plugs into the usb-c port. Not looking for wireless and hassle of batteries. And this is just for occasional passenger / kids in the back not serious gaming. All I am seeing seem to be usb-a. First result off Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/XUANMEIKE-Co...2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9zZWFyY2hfYXRm&psc=1 - doesn’t even mention the connection type. I presume Xbox is usb-a so no need.

What have you found / are using that meets my criteria? Thanks.

Does the usb port in the truck actually pass controller data to the computer? I wouldn't think this would work at all.

However, if it does, and you somehow already know that, you can buy any current xbox controller (series X/S), and they have usb c ports on them. You can then bring your own usb c to usb c cable. On my laptop I have run a controller in wired mode by doing just this.

I know with my elite series 2 controller (which has a rechargeable battery) I can plug it in to power and separately be hooked up with bluetooth for controls (if the truck usb does not pass data, this would be needed), but I'm not sure if that works with the standard series x/s controller, or if you'd need to buy the lithium rechargeable battery pack for it to gain that functionality.

That’s how it worked in my 2018 and 2019 model 3s. Except they had only usb-a in those years. I had an Xbox controller in fact. Once CT came around I ended up gifting the controller to the new owner of those cars since no use-a. I’ll look into a pass through usb-c cable then. Brings the cost up unfortunately. Unless there is one out there that comes in the box.

I’ll check the PS5 controller scene too as suggested above. Working links appreciated.

I thought that one of the recent updates added Bluetooth option for the controllers. If nothing else it did broaden the range of the supported controllers. Not sure if that update made it to the Cybertruck or not yet.

I have/use Bluetooth controllers in my Model X. They have a USB-C port, and I imagine I could control the games with a USB-C to USB-C cable. Let me try and get back to you, since I think my late 2023 MX is probably similar hardware as a new CT.

USB-C didn't work for data. I think those ports under the rear screen are power only.

I bought a PS5 controller to keep in the truck and can confirm it pairs and works perfectly. I keep it plugged into the usb C port in the center console so it’s always charged and we used it quite a bit to kill time on a road trip this weekend.

But that's via Bluetooth, and the OP was specifically requesting wired. I have way cheaper options for Bluetooth controllers. These guys are $30 and come in multiple colors.

exactly what i was going to say you can use a xbox, ps5, or switch controller and connect via a usb-c to usb-c cable or you can buy a cheaper controller like the one posted and use a female usb-a to male usb-c adaptor. https://a.co/d/gAZUEr5

Does this one work? I was thinking of using a switch controller
