Today I put 24 bucks worth of gas in my Nissan van. It had half a tank in it.
Two years ago I could fill it up from bone dry for about 18 dollars.
Yesterday we filled the Diesel Pig up at the National Guard base where military and retirees don't pay the Alabama fuel tax (about 20 cents).
It had a quarter of a tank and it cost 150 bucks to top it off.
That CT can't get here soon enough.
Be very happy you don't live in California!

Yep, there are millions, and millions of us that are happy we live in California. In spite of the price of Dino juice! :)

Son drives my car now to save on gas while I also pay for electricity. I somehow got the raw end of this deal.

My wife asked over the weekend, so which electric cars are available now to purchase? She wanted one this past weekend. I’m the bad guy saying her car has 4 more years before we swap.

our part can help the gas supply insanity by reducing use over these troubled times. My 2 cents and I stand by my convictions even if others disagree with me,.

I'm with you, right now seems like the worst time to buy a vehicle EVER! There are some interesting new vehicles, but it's a seller's market.
In our household we have 4 vehicles for 4 licensed drivers, and if one goes down, I'll probably wait for the Cybertruck still.

My daughter LOVES her car. But it takes premium gas and doesn't get great mileage. She's paying $400 - $500 a month for gas. I gave her the "well, you know, I don't even go to gas stations..." dad talk and she was all over it. She ordered a Polestar 2 a few days ago. Supposed to be ready for delivery in early June. With federal and state incentives she can get it for under $40k.

We just picked up another diesel car seeing CT is a way out for Aus and just paid $150 for 65l (17 gallons) for diesel for each car, just to drive 600km home, one way from a shopping trip. Same as LA to Frisco. Lol. Welcome to Australia.

Who needs a CT more?? ?

This is "The Beast", he's a Ford E250. It gets about 13-14 mpg with gas prices now over $6 per gallon, I'm right there with you, a 360 mile trip is just over $150. On our family vacations with 5-6 adults and all our toys, The beast is a must. Our family dynamic is getting to where only 4 of our 6 adults want to go on vacations, and the CT will come in handy.
Bring on the Cybertruck.

I'm familiar with this topic personally, since I tend to drive more miles than the typical American. Gas prices are raising everywhere. Looked at my spreadsheets over the years, and come to think of it, between two federal government administrations the prices here in Florida has risen by $2 over 4 years. I haven't spent the $600-$800 a month this year yet like I did back in September through December, but even in the middle of nowhere Florida and areas of Florida where prices were dirt cheap are now between $4 to $5 per gallon.

Because of this, me and pops just share his gas-sipping vehicle since mine guzzles on gas and needs a timing belt job soon. But my father did ask me what new EVs are coming out next year and none of them are reasonably priced other than the Fisker Ocean. I did look into the BMW iX, but not sure if anyone can justify $100k for that SUV.

Cost per mile to operate an ICE vehicle with MPGs in the teens/low-mid 20s, has also risen significantly during this particular administration. I'm calling this administration out because its similar to the Obama era where gas prices were high (but not dangerously high like the 70s). That's a roughly $0.10 increase for cost per mile during this same time too.

I would love to see what the overall cost per mile is on EVs, especially at the charging stations.

The prices were almost as high during the Trump Administration and higher during the Bush Administration and no higher in the Obama Administration.

Also, prices went up world-wide. The Administration doesn't have that level of power, especially for only being in office for a year.

(This graphic ends in 2020, so it isn't quite correct but the point is made.)

According to AAA, national average price of a gallon of regular is now $4.24. According to the above chart (using the inflation adjusted line), that's about $0.30 more than the peak during the Bush administration, $0.25 more than the peak during the Obama administration (highest in history until now), and $1.55 more than the peak during the Trump administration.

Average price when this administration took office was $2.40. At $4.24, gas is up 76% during the 14 months of this administration. It is the highest price in the last century (using the inflation adjusted line). While it's hard to read the graph, it also appears to be the fastest price increase ever - don't see any year when prices increased $1.80 in just over a year.
