I've taken in my cybertruck 4 times now since purchase in January for the same issue that claims to be resolved but has not.

Problem Statement: when exceeding speeds over 65mph, the windshield wiper moves from left to right on its own as if its either

a) a software glitch that has not been resolved in any updates
b) a motor or controller issue.

I have had the wiper replaced, including the tubing and out of 3 dealerships in south florida NO ONE can resolve this issue. I have posted the video on YOUTUBE in hopes to get some traction so someone out there in the TESLA world can fix this...

I've noticed some phantom wipes when the sun is low on the horizon in front of the CT.

I have noticed certain cloud cover & lighting changes may be causing occasional ‘ghost’ wiper action. Otherwise it will stay down for about a minute to allow any perceived water to push off to the ends of the wiper. This would ensure a sheet of water is not pushed up the windshield by the wind flow when it goes back to vertical position.

When the wiper parks, how close to the cantrail is it? (Edge of windshield) is the VIN uncovered when it parks?

I just took delivery; The wiper is not moving at all. I'm 2-hour drive from a service location. I ask for remote service. The response from service was remote service personnel is shorthanded from the layoffs. I was told they would order the wiper controller and inform me when it arrived.

I am thinking placement or frame alignment for the part. It just may not be correctly aligned from motor attachment. Putting a new one in doesn't solve the problem as it might not be in the correct place to begin with. A mm or so on that part and it becomes a sail.

Sorry couldn't read the previous pages.

I took delivery of my cyber beast on March 18th & didn’t notice this happening on my truck until just recently in the past two weeks. At highway speeds, mine is doing the exact same thing, just not as bad as yours.

This is obviously a valid concern, and I’m sure we’re gonna start hearing more and more people having this issue. For those of you that are not having the issue that’s awesome, but I can assure you that this is a legitimate problem, as it is happening on my vehicle as well.

For the record, my Cyberbeast has 3400 miles as of today.

Silly question but when they replaced the wiper, did they replace the wiper motor or just the arm? Old wiper motors had 4 or 5 connectors and operate pretty simply simply with discrete electronics for speed control. I'm not sure if Tesla wiper motors that use the camera for rain sensing are still as simple, or if they're ECU controlled at the motor (or some other wiper motor controller ECU). The parts catalog doesn't have separate part numbers for any kind of controller so only a tear down would tell us how complex it is. What we do know is that there's some software that controls motor park location based on speed. I think traditionally, there's cam in the motor assembly that dictates park location so if the Cybertruck wiper motor has two park positions, it either has a cam with 2 park spots (mechanically more expensive) or two software park locations (more Tesla M.O.). Following this, if the wiper motor is software controlled for park location and speed, then the software needs feedback from the motor for motor position, and it would make sense there would also be calibration since motor manufacturing motor position tolerance can be all over the place. We know there's a wiper service option, but I haven't seen a wiper calibration option.

Since this isn't happening on every truck, I'm guessing it's not a software issue, but a hardware issue with your specific wiper motor(s), wiring harness/connector, or whatever ECU is controlling the wiper.

Sorry to hear you are going through this. I've had mine at higher speeds and don't have this issue. I hope they fix it for you!

Wiper motor is 48V + LIN connection. Probably has absolute position encoder internally, or brushless with single park limit switch.
