I had the opposite happen. Got approved for 25k down and 8% rate, then when it was time to pick up my offer had expired and the new one was better. Same down payment and 6% rate. Both through Tesla.

Tesla doubled my down payment at the 11th hour to $52,000.

After waiting for three years with my CyberTruck reservation, and
upgrading to a founder series to move up in line, I’m now scheduled to pick up my foundation series cyber truck in Orlando tomorrow.

Unfortunately, my iphone has been in the shop since last Tuesday so I have not been able to access my Tesla app for 5 days. Just got into the app tonight, and was shocked to find out that my $23,000 down payment has grown to over $52,000.

Enough is enough.

Even though we are already a two Tesla family, and I’m a longtime Tesla stock owner, and supporter of Elon musk as an entrepreneur, I Can’t accept their latest bait and switch.

The way this company is run now has just turned me off. Products are great, but horrible management direction at the top, and worse customer relations.

I’m gonna go tell them they can sell my Cybertruck to the next person in line. and that I’m going to stop in at the local TV news station and share my story.

Has anyone else had a down payment surprise like mine?
I had the same thing happen to me every time I changed the $ amount or the APR. The app would give me a down payment of $53, XXX and the % would jump around, usually 11.95%. It's the app, not Tesla.

My first loan was through Tesla and their bank. They initially wanted 10% down, then 20% down, then I was declined. The letter they are required to send when they decline a loan, indicated credit scores of 857 for both my wife and me. All of these loan applications eventually expired.

After getting my VIN, the NAVY FCU offered a loan with 50% down when I applied by myself at the CU. Went home and applied with wife and included all our income in the online application. I didn’t include all my income on the first Navy CU application as I didn’t think I needed to include it all. The Navy CU gave me a 100% loan of about $110k on the joint application. A cashier’s check later and bam! I got a CT!

I thought, with a credit score of over 800, I could walk into any bank and they would give me all the money I wanted. Turns out, the bank wants to know you are willing to tell them you have the income to pay for the loan. The really strange thing that really floored me was the bank doesn’t check your income! They didn’t ask for a W2 or tax return. I have a buddy in the car business and he said the banks don’t check your income. They trust you! It is like the 2008 home loans all over again! The car buddy actually said to just tell the bank you make $350k and they will loan you the money! WTF? I haven’t had a car loan before and going through this process was an intereting experience.

I got my CT back in early January and I too believe Tesla did a bait and switch on me however not with the financing. When I received the email to buy it said it came with PowerShare hardware, fsd, etc. because I was in one of the first batches of emails to go out, there was nothing on this forum about it not having fsd yet, or anything about vouchers for not accepting PowerShare. Tesla never mentioned anything either. When I picked up the truck I was shocked there wasn’t FSD and at that time they didn’t know anything either. They just said to wait. Well I’ve owned the truck 5 months and still nothing (even though I paid the premium because I utilize fsd a lot on the MX I traded in). Then the PowerShare. Back then I was the first customer in my area or even that I could find on this forum to receive a quote for installation. I said no thanks, but I’ll take the hardware I bought as part of my purchase. They said nope, and that was it. I’ve contacted Tesla dozens of times and they have always said “it’s not our department, let me transfer you” or “call this other number” which reroutes back to the mainline. No voucher, no free supercharging, nothing. Just a big middle finger.

Another important aspect was back then they were saying only 1000 FS would be made. I felt this alone was well worth the $20k extra. Even without fsd for 6 months and without powershare, I would have been happy with that. But no, they are pumping them out until they can’t get their extra $20k from people on the order list. How are they able to get away with marketing it to me that way, taking my money, and then not delivering on any of the options they promised?
The product is great, and I love the CT but everything that convinced me to pull the trigger on the FS was all a hoax. I agree with you that the customer service is worse than any company out there, even worse than Comcast.

Nope. Nobody could pickup a Cybertruck without signing the understanding that FSD wasn't ready presently, and Tesla did not know when it would be ready.

I don't think you know what the word "hoax" means. This is an example of you believing YouTubers and Social Media instead of the actual agreements you signed. You have been "hoaxed" by Social media. Tesla documents are not very long, and they are written in plain, easy to understand language. You just failed to read them.

Probably not a necessary step, my guy. lol

This forum is a good place to vent. Don't feed the already out of control mass hysteria media

Tesla told me only 1000 FS when they emailed me. You were not part of the first trucks so you don't know what you're talking about. I saved all the documentation. Secondly, they didn't tell me FSD wasn't available on the truck until I was literally at the dealership picking up the truck. Like I said earlier, I like the product and am ok waiting, but that is a classic bait and switch. I didn't sign the order agreement until I was there. There is a discrepancy between what their email invitation said back then, and the final order agreement. The email was used to lure you in and spend the extra, and the order agreement was used last minute to change the deal. Bait and switch.

I want to see this email too. Because it sounds like a bunch of horse shit. But I want to be proven wrong.
yep. People have been talking about the source of the 1000 unit rumor for 6 months, and if this guy has had an email the whole time that shows where that number came from, that's pretty convenient for it to have never popped up anywhere

Visit your local SC and speak to someone first. You are financing through a 3rd party, not Tesla
This, Tesla does not finance vehicles, so sorry about this BS, maybe Tesla can star considering creating their own financial institution like GM financial

Can you show us this documentation? If you don't, we can safely assume it isn't real.
There were many articles saying 1000 FS but the articles weren’t from Tesla so you’re correct. So I texted my sales advisor for the Cybertruck asking about it and they said that was correct to the best of their knowledge.

Tesla Cybertruck Happy Ending - Tesla doubled my down payment at the 11th hour to $52,000 1717437949947-vz

I’m aware this isn’t legally binding and they didn’t fully commit. But I also spoke with someone on the phone who said that was the plan. All leading me to believe I was getting a limited series. But the wording obviously leaves wiggle room for them and I’m not debating that. I’m also not debating the order agreement doesn’t address the FSD being at a later time. I’m saying their sales practices are misleading and the customer service since then is terrible.
Also the email clearly states PowerShare hardware is included. It doesn’t state only if I pay an installer. No point in proving my experience to you all. I’m a huge Elon fan and Tesla fan. I’ve owned every model (except roadster) and driven them since the beginning. Been a long time shareholder and follow Tesla closely (not watching YouTube as previously suggested). But I can admit the way they have treated their loyal customers is not great (in my experience).
