What is the verdict on this, I have seen threads, but I haven’t seen a Determinate answer.

After a heavy rain water gets into the bed, as you can see in the picture. I don’t see a lot of space on those slats as people have said. Is there a new version or seals that truly waterproof?

I picked my car up in June 2024, appreciate it

Leak is caused by a poor seal between the appliqué and glass, not a missing slat. Had the seal corrected and slat still missing in my CT, no major leaks into the bed now.

Will service center know commonly to address that now with a request?

My experience with several service requests at different service centers is that it'll be hit or miss. IMO, if you don't get resolution with a certain service center after trying to work with them, just go to another one. This experience is not specifically with this issue, but issues with my CT and Model 3s on various issues.

I have this issue as well. I've been to two service centers to fix it, but it persists. Last time they reworked the tonneau. Invoice lists added or replaced pats as:
chain bushing hull part - tonneau service kit (2006987-00-A) x2
slat bold - roller- tonneau service kit (2006980-00-A) x 2
bushing slat - seal assembly - tonneau service kit (2006978-00-A) x1

That makes me think this is something that may just always be. It’s not crazy but my f150 with $120 Amazon cover doesn’t leak at all?

The interesting thing is that my tonneau did not leak when I picked up the truck. It started leaking after the sail trim recall work.

I always thought that water was from the tonneau retracting, guess not.

Have a look at this:

I kind of followed what he did, basically just added some Home Depot weather stripping between the back of the top window and the Tonneau spacer/cover (not sure the correct name).

This pretty much solved the problem for me, a little water can still get in at the sides, but not too much.

I’ve experienced that too; incompetent repair techs. Had to do my own repair after 2 service visits didn’t fix an issue with one of my 3s.

Same problem leaks evertime it rains . Everything gets wet so annoying .

Been in replaced slat . Still leaking .

Based upon posts here most success is from DIY.

It’s surprising that Tesla hasn’t resolved this yet as it’s in my opinion the worst fault of this truck .

I've requested fix twice but they addressed the tonneau rework mentioned above and NOT the aero sail seal where it actually leaks. I will try once more at a third different SC. The last time I reported I ended up with an extra bar that is right in front of back window when closed. Aggravating but I'll get it sorted eventually.
