Help me with my wife - Does Cybertruck Rust?

My Cybertruck is on order......supposedly with delivery between March and May. As we are inching towards delivery, my wife was reading articles on wired.com, cbsnews, robbreport about new vehicles rusting.

Has anyone else encountered rusting issues? Or encountered issues where they thought it was rust, but was containments from the road?

Lots of threads on rust. But it's from particulate iron dust created when shipping on the train. The Cybertruck doesn't rust, its the iron dust that does.
Just keep it clean.
For taking care of the rust, Tesla recommends CitriSurf 77 for removal.

Tell her the rust* is easily removed at the SC or at home. I must be lucky because my truck has been amazing!! 3xxx vin.

Dang, I just ordered IronX. Where did you see Tesla’s Citrisurf recommendation? Mine came with no rusting spots, but I put a magnet marketing banner for a youth esports league on a door panel for a week, and now have 5-6 rust spots. It should come right out and is just particles from the magnet oxidizing. Can post update after using IronX if anyone is interested.

No it does not. Tiny foreign ferritic particles get in the texture of the stainless and do show rust. We saw the same thing happens with some golf clubs in my last work. Barkeeper friends spray or soft scrub works well followed by windex. Try windex first as bar keeper will also remove patina and brightens so you may have to do whole truck if too dark to start.

Cybertruck stainless is not the rust being seen on new trucks. A lot of good info here.

There is top layer rust spots. I did IronX last week to remove all rust spots, and this week, I found 2 rust spots. They were easy to remove with a normal wash.

I’ve had my truck about 6 1/2 weeks now and have washed it many times. I haven’t seen nor had any rust spots so far. I think the consensus is that the rust is not the HFS rusting but other surface contamination. If you plan on wrapping it won’t be an issue but if not, Tesla has recommendations for cleaning contamination.

The problem with many articles on the CT is that bringing up problems with the truck gets more attention and eyes than not. I’ve read many that use this forum as a source of their reporting and they’re 100% negative. They take owners legitimate issues and venting and happily report it like it’s the norm.

Like another thread has said, FUD is winning in the mass media. My sister gave me a bunch of grief about crap she heard about in the media she clearly believes in. I am sick and tired of it. I would welcome well-researched and objective reporting but there doesn't appear to be much and clearly not getting the eyeballs that all these other jerks are.

I am sure that I have complained about this term "liberal" in your comment before. I do not want to report you but the fact of the matter is that there really isn't a single media source that is "telling the whole truth and nothing but the truth" so you might as well own up to it and take the "liberal" out of your postings.
