I took the truck into service today and showed them my video and sound files. They can't duplicate it, since it's random. They said there is a "harness" recall in that area they can check on but no parts. It's so frustrating l they can't figure it out. Will keep you posted.

It sounds like electronic interference. Have you tried turning off and removing all electronic accessories then drive only with CT?
Yes, I’ve tried that also..I have even taken note of when and on which roads it’s triggered to see If I notice a pattern. Still no luck. It’s at the SC now so we shall see.

Good to see I'm not the only one with that random beeping. Last week the Council Bluffs SC couldn't find it and tried to attribute it to my aftermarket camera mirror but that's not it. Sound is there even when I disconnect the power to that.

Wow, it seems like it’s the same exact pattern of beeps. Hmmmm

First, please don't try to hold your phone and record while driving; it's extremely dangerous (more so than drunk driving). Have a passenger to do that.

Second, what is the mounting bracket under your mirror for? Did you tap into a power feed somewhere for an accessory?
I agree about it being dangerous, Tesla service asked me to record it. My wife refuses to drive in the truck with because when and if the sound starts, she cant tolerate the beeping. It hurts her ear. I have not tapped or messed with any electrical wires. The mount is for a radar detector that is plugged into the power port. I removed the radar detector from the vehicle and placed in the garage. The sound still comes on sporadically.

The truck is at the service center and they want me to come and get it and they stated they can not produce the sound. So, I am stuck. Do they expect me to keep making service appointments every time to have this looked at? Keep in mind the service appointments in my area are almost 3 to 4 weeks wait time. This is ridiculous and unacceptable and I paid a premium for this CyberBeast Foundation Series.

This is NOT an isolated issue. I need others here to safely record this sound and post it here. I feel the more this is reported the faster TESLA can address the issue and not just brush it off. It’s a safety issue at this point. What are the lemon laws regarding this? Any attorney’s here? I cant just keep going to service appointments on a brand new truck for something they can not duplicate, but it’s clearly happening.

Maybe I should wait for CyberEarPlugs to be offered at the TESLA shop?

Few things to try:

  1. What's your speaker volume level when you detect it? does moving the volume up or down affect it at all? Try to move the volume slider while not playing any audio. If the noise gets louder, then it's something to do with your audio system.
  2. Does it only happen when driving? Have you ever noticed it while sitting still? When it starts happening next time pull over and see if it goes away. If it does, take note what speed you were going when it disappears.
  3. Happen more often at a certain temperature? Navigating to a supercharger and pre-heating the battery? Try all kinds of things to see if you can reproduce it regularly. Turn the HVAC at the lowest setting and switch back and forth between heating and cooling.
  4. Turn your seat heaters on and off. Seat fan on and off.
  5. Sit in your truck on flat level ground in the quietest area you can find and rock back and forth, then side to side.
  6. Actuate the suspension from entry to high.
  7. Do you have a high quality microphone you can use (other than your phone?). If not, can you borrow one from somebody?
  8. Maybe a local high quality audio shop has equipment to locate NVH on vehicles?
  9. I see you are an airline pilot; reach out to a master mechanic and see if they have any audio-isolation equipment used to track down errant electro-mechanical noises.
I hear all kinds of electronic whirrs and trills everywhere I go that most people cannot hear; especially overhead lighting. It may be a particular circuit board with a noisy capacitor.

Great list of things to try out. I see what you are getting at. Just a little background on me..I am an A&P mechanic and a flight test pilot at my airline. I'm dual qualified on the Boeing 787 and Airbus.

Its not my first rodeo and I have already tried a few things on your list, except the audio isolation equipment you recommend.

Frankly, it's not my job to be a test pilot for TESLA. My father wisley always warned me not fly the "A" model of any aircraft..I guess the same goes with Vehicles.

The beeping is only audible while in motion with Climate control on or off. Speed, time of day, has no factor. Beast mode, chill mode etc and suspension hight makes no difference. Usually the volume on the audio system is turned down or muted, or it masks the sound..

I have asked the manager to contact me..so far crickets..

Things you can try to isolate the cause:

1) Disconnect the screen, the CT will still work and you can drive using the gear selector next to the rear view mirror. Its easy, you can find the steps here: youtu.be/P-lZsIJP29M?t=128
2) Go into offroad mode: Change the power distribution from front wheel drive to 100% rear, and vice versa.
3) Turn off the interior ambient lights. AI says "LED lights may beep due to electromagnetic interference (EMI) or improper dimming. EMI is a common issue that occurs when a dimmer switch and an LED's power supply are incompatible. "

Dang! So you have already tried a laundry list of "what-if's". That's super frustrating. I think the only other thing I could do to help would be to hear it in person; I have pretty sensitive hearing and can usually pinpoint the inclination of a set frequency. But such a thing would be unfortunately worthless in recorded audio.

I'll keep brainstorming on the side though.

Nice manager at TESLA called and we discussed some options. The best is to make "bug reports" using that command followed by the issue. Car sends current parameters to a server that can help pinpoint the issue. Basically it takes a snapshot of the current state of the car...we shall see.

Well, seems like this has stumped Tesla also. I had a tech drive with me, and of course no sound!

As I was driving home, it started back up. I decided to head right back to the SC and as I approached the building..it friken stopped.

My case has been escalated to a group of Cybertruck specialists to review..

I hope they will figure this out soon.

if anyone else is still experiencing this please make a bug report as its happening. Make a recording, reach out to your SC and post here..

thanks.

Update…I am still getting the random Morse code sound on some drives. Very annoying. I have several recordings, but TESLA has not found a solution. Mainly because the sound does not emit while at the service center. I have scheduled yet another service appointment next week. I may be a candidate for the Lemon Law if this continues…

after listening to it some more, I believe it is in-fact the inverter... yours just has a slightly more high pitched sound than mine.

It is very annoying in mine as well, but Tesla says that it is normal.
