FSD is awesome, and I've gotten all my strikeouts by accidentally manually accelerating over 85 mph. Strikeouts prevent you from using FSD for the rest of your drive, so I wanted a way to prevent this from happening. My solution is (Safety Settings) to set the speed limit to 85mph max. This way I can mash the accelerator, and pickup an additional 10-20 mph without ever paying attention to my speed, or breaking 85 and getting a strikeout. This also prevents me from going over 85 for any reason, even when not FSD. Setting speed limit also keeps you in "CHILL" no matter what, so some people may not like this. It has made FSD on the highway much more comfy to me. Show love spread love! (AI generated cover image with bizzaro CT for your amusement only) ❤

This hasn’t happened to me. Does it depend on the posted speed limit? From CO to WI I did my fair share of accelerated speed ups when I wanted the CT to go faster. I’ve actually been a little nervous because the CT has gone as fast as 88mph without me doing anything.

I have 4. Most where from looking at the screen, trying to figure out what the hell is beeping and why! The rear view mirror in on the screen so once I was watching some driver weaving all over the road behind me.
They need to be a little less quick to give a strike, I can see the road while looking at the screen to adjust the heater, which is not as quick as a regular truck. You need to go through a a few steps to adjust the heat or radio/music so don't penalize me for it. Just give a few more seconds...

To be fair.. 3 extra seconds is 264 feet at 60mph. Almost a football field you traversed while trying to adjust the heat.

Like I said, I can still see the road. I do not have tunnel vision.

I think this is a clever solution, but it’s just as easy for me to remember to turn off FSD off before I punch it if I’m in a situation where I want/need to.

I’ve been on FSD on many vehicles for 4+ years and I’ve only ever had 3 total strikes so I don’t personally see it as a big problem.

I drive very early morning to gym (pre-5 am) and leave office before the worst of HTX traffic, so 85 feels like crawling in many situations. I’m frustrated by (but understanding about) the FSD cap at 85, but couldn’t live with that as a max speed. To each their own own.

Like another poster, I simple toggle off FSD when I’m about to make a move then toggle it back on when I’m comfortable “chilling” at 85. (Or at least with 85 as my FSD cap. It often fails to stay there despite there being no road or traffic conditions to slow. I just keep light pressure on the accelerator.)

A heads up display is needed for the driver — showing speed and next nav instruction and so forth. Also I believe you can use voice commands to change temperature. Should have a voice prompt like Porsche -/ or now Siri - just say “hi Tesla” and then the command. Having to push speak button is antiquated.

In my experience, the 85 mph cap applies regardless of speed limit.

If you figure out how you got FSD to get to 88, please share!

this cap has moved around over the years IIRC it’s been as low as 70 and as high as 90 (good old days).

I think that 90 is where Elon probably wants it to be, but right now with the state of FSD they are being cautious they also took away the option to have only one car length follow distance.

Hopefully the company that makes the S3XY products makes them for the Cybertruck. Their products have over a hundred functions with one of them being able to automatically disable the 85 MPH strikeout.

This is a very creative solution, thank you for posting it.

I don't ever cruise over 85 but I have gotten the lock out for exceeding 85 multiple times. It's typically situations where I accelerate to make space for traffic entering the highway. Or trying to get out of the blind spot of a tractor trailer. It's pretty frustrating, but I would still rather get the lockout then having my speed limited to 85.

I don't think the 85MPH+ counts as a strike.
At least it didn't in the past

Same here . . . or else I'd be in permanent time-out. Rather, it just puts you in a trip-only time-out, which I've heard can be thwarted by pulling over, exiting/stopping vehicle and restarting your journey. (Not worth it on commute, but perhaps on road trip.)

My one strike is from an alleged lack of attention. It was pre-dawn and I was wearing a hat that may have obscured the interior camera's view of my eyes. It was wrong, but I'm more overt now.

Great idea to use voice. I forget about this feature. Older versions weren't too good so I stopped using it .
