What to Expect
We are building a group of skilled Dimensional Engineers to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment to produce world class vehicle quality. You will be responsible for enhancing the dimensional appearance and craftsmanship of the Cybertruck during the general assembly process. This role requires a strong background in statistics, analysis, data collection, and mechanical knowledge to drive continuous improvement and maintain the highest standards of quality.

What You’ll Do
· Lead and Strategize Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Oversee and prioritize projects aimed at resolving complex issues related to the dimensional appearance and overall quality of vehicles emerging from the General Assembly process
· Advanced DVA and Root Cause Analysis: Conduct comprehensive dimensional variation analysis and root cause investigations to not only identify but also predict sources of appearance deviations. Implement long-term corrective actions to eliminate future issues
· Process and Tooling Optimization: Utilize advanced software tools (CATIA V5 preferred) to innovate and enhance assembly processes, aiming to minimize variability. Lead the team in fixture tooling design, 2-D drawings, and clever datum strategies
· Data Analytics Leadership: Guide junior engineers in data collection methods and perform high-level dimensional variation analyses to identify key areas for process optimization
· Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Serve as the key liaison between BIW Dimensional Engineering Team, Quality, Production, and other departments
· Develop and modify existing line layouts, processes, and fixtures to improve quality using best practices
· Support the transition of a product from concept development to pilot line production and into full-rate production

Happy to hear it! Get everything right before we take delivery! Who wants to run back-and-forth to a service center with a brand new product to work out the kinks that could be worked out before we take delivery.

Distinction that these stories (and the xwitter influenzas) miss, is the distinction between the CT’s high volume production line and the low volume pilot line.

high volume production line has been in a constant state of construction and incremental validation - so it’s no “news” that this work continues.(Previously, builds would be incrementally assembled on part of the high volume line, then transferred to low volume pilot line for completion.)

the real “news” and relevant question, then, would be whether the low volume pilot line has also been paused/stopped.

because if so, that LV pilot line doesn’t need “retooling” or build out. If *it* has “paused,” then it most likely is simply … done. No further RCs to build. (But that doesn’t mean saleable production is next…)

Last week, the low volume pilot line wasn’t paused. As shown by the batch of RCs that departed on transports on Monday, highest observed RC #724.

If the low volume line is paused/done, then it would mean that RC builds are done, and the high volume production line is being finished out for the next phase of builds: the builds that come before saleable production.

this next round of builds would be the first assembled completely on the high volume production line. Essentially, these builds are for validating the high volume production line from end-to-end.

if in fact the LV pilot line is done, this present pause (unlike last week - when Pilot line was still building) would be to allow finalization of the HV production line prior to making these next HV validation builds.

also, those HV validation builds would be the unit type used for insider delivery event units.

this distinction between the high volume production line (where saleable units will be built once manufacturing is validated) and the low volume pilot line (where RCs have been completed after partial assembly on the HV line), is missed by these stories and xwitter influenzas, to much confusion

the latter even scoff at the distinction, blinded by some hopium that a saleable unit is rolling of the line yesterday. So, they seemingly refuse to onboard the distinction, because it would mean … horror of horrors … Tesla work left to do.

Although I appreciate your detailed illumination of this process, I would very much like the LV ‘line’ to be done and for the HV line to complete validation so that this delivery event can get going - which kind of marks the beginning of a delivery timeline. Frustration is never far off these days.
