You ordered in January 2024 and you get notified? WTF, I ordered 3 years and 9 months ago. NADA. I don't understand how Tesla manages the queue.

After putting my order in mid January, my Cybertruck finally came in last week. But, when the Tesla App asked me to accept the new conditions that I accept the truck without getting all the features I was paying for, I decided I'd rather just wait for a regular Cybertruck.

I asked if I could transfer my deposit and they told me I could put the order HOLD for 6 months and see if they are producing regular Cybertrucks then. They still probably won't, but we will see what my options are then.
What are the new conditions?

on paper. I haven't seen one listed, at least in NJ, for under $100K MSRP.

I had a 2015 Macan S, great little gasser, but new one looks more like a Mercedes EQE egg than a Macan and the Macan EV still seems to be running the cruddy VW group software and comes with CCS only. So meh software and access to a horrendous charging network that is only going to get worse as charging providers switch handles (near term) and entire stalls (in the next few years) to NACS meaning #donglelife for the entirety of the Macan EV's life. Nah.
When my CT Beast VIN came in, there were two other vehicles on my short list. I said the Hummer EV is just too slow, so I moved away from that. The Taycan Cross Turismo I built in the configurator would've been $50k more than my Beast, so I decided to be comparatively frugal.

I hope all the issues I'm experiencing up front with my Beast are things of the past and I don't have regrets. If you're spending $120k on an EV today, it is compelling and not much more at the price I would consider. If I was in the AWD trim pricing range, I wouldn't be buying a CT though, I think the pricing is less compelling.

I've also eyeballed the Taycan and Hummer EV along with the Rivian R1S and Volvo EX90/Polestar 3 but the higher tariffs may kill off that duo. I'm okay with slowness, everything else is slower than my Model S Plaid I'd be selling so what are you going to do.

I do like the fact the Hummer EV has some real buttons, reclining rear seats and a trunk and Supercharger access as soon as those dongles start coming out. I looked on my Tesla app and 99% of my charging YTD has been at home/work on AC. It is nice to have Supercharger access though.

I do think the $80K AWD Cybertruck is a solid deal in the land of expensive, larger, EV's. Still undecided on what to do when my number gets called. Might just wait it out or I've found a couple Hummer EV SUV's with the early reservation credit that can be had for about $90K for a 2x.

Thoughts on the Beast vs Hummer EV?

The main draw of the Hummer EV to me is the removable top, I would really enjoy having an option like that somewhere on a Tesla. Additionally, I don't think we're going to see $60k Hummers at any point, so the Hummer will be the more unique ride medium term, when the road is flooded with CTs. I've been in both the truck and SUV and they are sturdy and well built machines. The issue is outside of launch mode, the drive is pedestrian. It's more of a tank than sporty, I just don't have interest in that type of ride right now.

I only talk bad about the FS AWD value because that same vehicle will be $72k soon. With the reduced cost of FSD, you can add what is arguably the most desirable part of the FS package after the initial purchase and be $20k less than FS. The fact the Beast isn't eligible for any tax incentives and comes with more in the FS, it just makes me feel better about spending my money. It's not as much of an early adopter tax.

There weren't really any conditions other than I could wait 6 months to see if non FS Cybertrucks were being produced at that time. I can actually change my mind at any point and put myself back in line for the FS Cybertruck.

I am guessing if they aren't I could do another 6 month hold.

Thanks for the insights. I once owned a Nissan 300zx twin turbo that had awesome T-tops that were quiet and easy to pop in/out. Not sure why T-Tops died off but that part of the Hummer experience is also more attractive than a giant pane of glass cooking my skull. But you're dead on, no one would confuse either Hummer for being sporty and launch mode is downright dangerous pushing 4.5 tons of mass.

The Beast with the triple motor drivetrain, greater allowance for Powershare hookup, eventual light bar and other niceties - along with low production volumes - should keep it in rarer air for quite a while. With a 0-60mph time of about 2.5 seconds the Beast has about the same acceleration as a Raven Model X Performance Ludicrous from early 2021 which is completely wild for a pickup truck!

For now, I am keeping my Beast order. I go in phases of impatience and being patient. I'm not an attention grabber, barely have time to get to places. But it is cool to me to be one of the first to have it in town. But I spoke to the ceramic/PPF guy and he said there's a guy anticipating getting one in June. He also said, he's seen one drive by his house and this guy lives in the middle of nowhere.

I actually want the powershare stuff. I live in the middle of nowhere and on a well. So no electricity, no water for me. Plus power is rarely out, and when it is, its during a rain storm. I have a automatic pool cover that needs a pump to get rid of water. I was planning on getting a power wall anyways. I hate gas generators.

So, being first is kind of over, so I guess I might as well keep waiting for the Beast.. Damn old me preordering 5 days after the reveal. Idiot.

I believe they are referring to "Foundation Series Invitation" order and not the original Nov 2019 pre-order, most of us placed. For instance, I placed my original pre-order on Nov 2019. Foundation Series Invite was sent 12/8/23. "Ordered" 12/9/23. VIN received 4/23. Delivered 5/2.
