'EV reservations are currently full'.

I'm not sure how this is going to be shipping in early 2024 when they don't have any actual specifications other than 'estimates'.

I can't buy an 'estimated' vehicle.

Also, the price of the Edition 1 - for 2024 - is over $100K. So not $50K, more expensive than a Lightning or a Rivian and only slightly less expensive than a Hummer.

I suppose I should have included a winky.

I just think it's funny GMC has the nerve to claim to have more EV pickup trucks than any other manufacturer when they are basically all unobtanium, being made in such limited quantities, if at all, they are not even worth mentioning.

While I've never seen a Cybertruck in the metal, it's not been released to the public yet. GM has two EV pickups released to the public, starting back in 2021, and I've still not seen a single one! They are sold out for over two years but have still only produced less than 1000 of them! It's like the EV pickup that exists in fantasy, not in the real world.

You can't make this shit up! And people give Tesla a hard time?? The Hummer has been sold to the public for two years and there still aren't any on the roads. Oh, I'm sure you California people have seen a couple, but I think you know what I mean.

Yes, it does. The lightbar has been seen on at least one RC. The door handles there or not don't affect the functionality of the doors, nor does the SS to synthetic material affect the bed function. You can't say that about a missing seat. There's a good chance the mirrors will be remavable, if Elon is to be believed. A Cyber-themed RV is simply a prop, not a product for sale.

Yes, surprise me by a lot.

Most of the other things were improved or had easy alternatives or same function capacity.

door handles - door partially pops open

side mirrors - side mirrors can be removed

SS bed - standard with factory composite bed liner instead of having to buy after-market.

light bar - there are many low cost alternatives in after market.

Cyber-themed ATV - Cyber-themed is just a style not a function. There are many affordable ATVs available.

Seating for 6 adults -

ok

Though feels you’re following more the letter than the spirit of the question.

to be more to the (I thought) point: the website vehicle features haven’t been updated for anything

So y’all’s view, in reality, is that it is “very surprising” that Tesla hasn’t come in and changed ONLY the seating configurations info, and left everything else inaccurate and outdated

Leave the prototype designs/proportions, leave the giant tires, old school hub caps, SS bed, door handles, no BAW, no bumper-located headlights, the tailgate ramp, the old taillight config, the 100cf of exterior lockable storage, etc…

but alter the 2019 interior renderings to only show 5 seats and change the “seat six comfortably” to copy to “five”?

what if instead they just… spent over a year parading around units that showed ALL the changes and, and assumed everyone understood the 2019 website has no precedent value?

I don't understand why you don't get an EV truck from another maker. I mean, GMC is leading in the EV truck space, the only automaker with not one, not two, but three EV trucks! You don't believe me? Look here:

GMC Continues the Electric Truck Revolution: Introducing the First-Ever 2024 Sierra EV
Dual motor Cybertruck proposed features, payload/towing max specs, range AND 3mm cold-rolled stainless steel, (hopefully with armor glass too) are much much better than fragile GMC and dual motor Cybertruck will probably be much lower priced than than roughly similar GMC.

How long have to wait to see if GMC with native NACS (Tesla socket) really works at high speed and reliably on Tesla network.

I have owned several GMC vehicles in my life. I have hard time even considering buying from them again.

Chevy Bolt battery debacle.

Based on GMC history I would not trust Ultium battery tech until proven over many years.

GMC BEVs do not use safer cylindrical battery cells.

And again I mention dent-resistant, scratch-resistant, 3mm cold-rolled stainless steel Cybertruck (hopefully with armor glass too).
I hate fragility of painted thin metal cars/trucks.

So here is what I think SnoozeTube and other headlines would be if they did;

“Well, they updated the seating, but they still left the single motor. So that MUST mean they are still making it.”

”Well’ they updated the seating to 5, but they left (insert your favorite feature here) in, so that PROVES they are still making it that way! Otherwise, they would have changed that too!”

But the way it is, it is easy to say “Those were our hopes at the initial preview. Here are the full specs for production….”

That too sensible of an interpretation for this forum.

Everything must have hidden meanings, no matter how tenuous.

Do major ICE full-size pickup trucks with 2-row 6-person seating have an airbag for front middle seat?
No air bag, no way Jose! CT will ONLY have steering wheel and dash air bag for front passenger. Best air bag is no air bag for centre cab deployment. As l understand, you cannot remove airbags in your car, as it voids insurance.

Almost all major brands of full-size ICE trucks sold in U.S. (Ford, GMC/Chevy, RAM) have center dashboard screens and also have option for center front row passenger seat/console. So seating for total 6 average adult passengers. Yes, probably will not work for 6 giant guys but for 6 adults of average sizes it should work and better for extended family of 6 or immediate family of 3-5 & the 1-3 children's friends/sport-mates ( total of 6, mix of average people sizes & ages, NOT all giant guys).

Airbag deployment for a front center seat may be quite difficult. not impossible, just not easy.

You can have your screen, but eat it too.
The air bag is not what keeps front passenger (either center position or right side) from hitting (eating) dashboard screen or dashboard. Modern seat belts by themselves are designed to keep front passengers head & upper-body from impacting the front center screen or dashboard.

Airbags are not required for center front position or rear passenger positions and even rear passengers can have a screen in front of them (just like many airliners and long distance bus passenger seats).

If a truck maker wanted to have airbag for center front seat position while having center screen there are airbag technologies available. One is to deploy airbag from front top center roof (in front of & above rear view mirror).

I desperately need that middle front seat as an option, as we have 4 kids! Family of six, need a 6 seater. The CT website still shows 6 seats. But EVERY iteration we’ve seen over the past year has that middle seat nixed in favor or the console. VERY disappointed about this, so I’m hoping it is an option or there’s an after market solution sometime soon.
Have you looked into adoption?

There may be an aftermarket solution eventually, like the bench seats available for all the major full-size pickups from this source: https://shop4seats.com/truck-seating.html

But I don't think they'll be available until the aftermarket manufacturers see enough demand from Cybertruck owners. That along with the development time will probably take quite a while - maybe a few years.

Wishing for Tesla to offer a six seat option for the Cybertruck is unlikely to change your situation. But who knows, maybe someone there with some authority will hear the requests. There is no technical reason or DOT rule that prevents that factory option. There is no requirement for center passenger airbags and there has been no crash testing performed on center passenger results.

Hope springs eternal but most people aren't willing to wait that long....

2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 vs. 2023 Ford F-150 Comparison

By Jack R. Nerad
J.D. Power
https://www.jdpower.com/cars/shoppi...-silverado-1500-vs-2023-ford-f-150-comparison

.....
A significant shift came with the relatively recent growth in popularity of 4-door cab configurations creating vehicles that can seat six (6-passenger seating). Because of that innovation (6-passenger seating), many full-size pickups are the primary vehicle of their family, used for everything from toting lumber from the home improvement store to taking the kids to baseball practice.

.....
Chevy equips both the Double Cab and Crew Cab versions of the Silverado to seat up to six—three on a modular front bench and three on a more conventional bench in the rear.

.....
The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and the 2023 Ford F-150 are each available in three different cab configurations with multiple wheelbases and bed lengths. The regular-cab models are most often commercial rather than personal-use trucks and are best suited to two occupants, although three workers can find room in the modified bench seats. The extended-cab Silverado Double Cab and F-150 SuperCab offer up to 6-passenger seating, but the rear seating areas are not as generous as in the Silverado Crew Cab and the F-150 SuperCrew. If you plan to use the rear seats often, the two crew-cab configurations are the best choices, possessing significantly more legroom than their extended-cab counterparts.

just curious

is a front *bench* seat what you think CT owners wanted, in the main?

not at all to suggest there aren't some folks who did (or would settle for)

instead to clarify whether a 40/20/40 bench arrangement would actually scratch the central itch that has lingered since this (which appear to be two full bucket seats plus a middle jump)

or the Nissan Titan version (is it even a 40/20/40/.), which in any event, the truck is being altogether discontinued for lack of sales

Most of the factory 3-person 40/20/40 front bench seats I see in modern pickups are not like the straight back front bench seats (single slab for all 3 people) in 1950s-1990s generations of pickups.

In most modern factory 3-person front row combo seats, the driver seat and right passenger seat are a type of bucket seat with side bolster cushioning on back/bottom, headrests, individual fwd/back controls, individual recline control. Some center seats even have headrest and full shoulder type seat belt.

Ford calls theirs Ford F-150, F-250, F-350, F-450 "40/20/40 Split Front Bench".

So some of the modern 3-person front row combo seats should not really be called "bench seats".
