"Cybertruck on FSD drives head-on into barrier at 40mph, unbelievable damage!"

in the comments....

IIHS crash test footage has been released for the Cybertruck. This is the Moderate Overlap frontal crash test where 40% of the front hits rigid barrier at 40 mph (much harder than the full-overlap 35 mph frontal and other government crash tests).

Service Center: “it’s within spec.”

Looks like it did really well
Agreed. Looking forward to seeing the IIHS report from this crash test. Anyone know how long it usually takes from the crash test until report is published?

I think on their website they said late August, early September. Evidently the video was released early by Pocket Lab.

The IIHS information is being officially released with a group of vehicles including the ID Buzz.

That is so true! Most people still think the Cybertruck is an inferior vehicle, simply because they have mostly been exposed to negative misinformation.

Huh, where's the fire I hear about every few weeks on the news?
This remind me the Chevrolet Volt who caught fire three weeks after a side-impact crash test at a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) testing center in November 2011.

The investigation revealed that the fire was not due to a manufacturing defect in the battery, but rather to damage from the crash test that was not immediately apparent. This incident highlighted the importance of proper handling and procedures for electric vehicle batteries after a crash.
However, it would be interesting knowing was was the cause of the fire that occurred in in Piedmont, California?

Piedmont Fire Chief Dave Brannigan said the day after the crash that the speed in extinguishing was indicative that the Cybertruck’s large lithium-ion battery had not caught fire, describing the incident as “more along the lines of a typical car fire.
