or you’ve never had to deal with finding rats and mice nesting in your engine compartment! At least CT should negate that.
Just need the truck to short out occasionally to kill the trespassing vermin.

I grew tired of cleaning out the garage. So, I heated it, finished it, and made it an awesome mancave. My CT will be parked in my driveway collecting solar power.
Btw, I kept my garage door in place... easy to convert back for the next owner.

Anyone who thinks their truck needs to be in a garage has no concept of what a truck is.
Let's see you going to or from your outdoors parked CT (or any truck) bringing groceries in during a sudden downpour. An umbrella may help, but not much while carrying groceries. Lighten up on the garage crowd. It is a matter of personal preference. I park my beater 1993 Dodge truck in the garage even though it is impervious to golf ball sized hail. I like knowing that if a storm comes up I can enter and exit my truck completely dry. You should try it! And during the winter, my entire garage is pre-heated in my energy efficient geothermal home so I won't have to waste battery power pre-heating my CT, or if you are a purist, try NOT pre-heating your CT outside during the winter. No other truck could pre-heat which I am sure your are aware of by now since you are a "truck concept" guy. Or if you are really a purist, just eliminate a garage in your house altogether. Go with a redneck carport or street parking, or maybe you already are and that is why you are judging garage parking for CTs. If you had a garage, you would like it. I promise. Just make sure you have enough room to build one large enough. I never have to wash bird shit and tree sap off of my beater either.

And then there is the concept difference between "needs" and wants". Just because I "want" my CT to be bulletproof, will I really "need" it to be? I don't intend to be driving through riots or barrios where such occurrences are commonplace. You might live in such a neighborhood. I don't know. Unless you happen to find the telltale evidence that you indeed "needed" such a feature (and there most definitely will be if it happens), then it is obvious that you didn't "need" bulletproof design just like the rest of us didn't "need" to garage our CT's. Bulletproofing comes with the package and you will benefit from it perhaps. I hope you never need it, but it is there just in case. My garage came with my home and I will use it. Next time we have another tornado and a tree is downed, I will quite possibly benefit from it as well. I will certainly benefit from lower car insurance premiums by having my CT garaged as opposed to being outside exposed to the elements and vandals or what have you. Park yours on the street if you wish. I don't diss you over it, but yours and others pissy comments towards those who choose to garage theirs are uncalled for. Low class for sure. As one used Tesla seller once said to me because I had questions about the vehicle she was selling, "If you can't afford a new one, perhaps you should stick with a Toyota or a Honda." So why didn't she just send hers to the crusher? Doesn't get anymore "nose-up" than that. Lost a sale too.

Here is another key question all you "anti-CT garagers" should ask yourselves: We all know that the CT is Elon's baby. His pet project. He will no doubt have at least a tri-motor plaid Triple-X Sooper duper of his own, will he not? Ask yourselves, will he park his outside in the weather "just because" he can or will he park it in his underground (I assume) parking mall because he wants to? Anybody taking bets?

Been doing that for 50 years with no ill effects. None of my vehicles have EVER been garaged. ??

So it's pretty obvious to everyone, especially by reading this thread, that it's just based on preference whether people will park in their garage or not. It'll be unfortaunte for people who don't have the choice because it doesn't fit, but the truck will be fine to pretty much everything except falling trees and vandalism.

I understand all the benefits of a garage that you mentioned but I actually don't see much of a downside when it comes to parking a Cybertruck outside.
First lets assume the garage you are talking about has an entrance to your house since you mentioned bringing in groceries in the rain. I would probably use the frunk for groceries so I don't see much of a different between parking in the garage or parking up close to the garage where I can just walk into it and then grab the groceries from the frunk.
Now when it comes to winter, sure a garage can be heated, but at the same time my truck will be plugged in, so that's not really wasting battery power, and since I have solar, It's not like it's costing me anything. I also don't have to worry about snow or freezing rain because I have what you call a 'redneck carport' which i don't really understand since I built a very nice one the same style as my house, it even has solar on it as well.
Also 'truck concept' isn't a fixed thing, trucks have changed over the years and especially now with the Cybertruck. The Ram 1500 won luxury car of the year because people said it didn't drive like a truck. I don't think anyone would have been upset that it's not 'truck concept' and ripped out the air suspention to make it a rougher ride. I'm fairly certain my Cybertruck will be a better ride than my Cadillac.
Now I do have a big garage, a 3 vehicle garage. I currently have 3 vehicles and I have my car and my wifes car in it. My truck is outside and under the carport if its in the winter. I don't put it inside because that third vehicle bay is my workshop. there is still plenty of space to put my truck there but I also don't feel like moving it in and out everytime i'm working on something because that's common. Sure if i had enough space for 4 vehicles, I'd put the truck inside as well, but myself and a friend of mine both keep our trucks outside of our garages because we use our garage for more important things than keeping our trucks dry.

I think we all need to relax a little. Elon said "Cybertruck doesn't need a garage", we're free to garage or not. There'll be no team of cybercops inspecting to see if it garaged or not, chill! We can do whatever the fuck we want with Cybertruck, park in on the roof if you want. The thing is, this is a big, beautiful country, with diverse climates and people, some will want or need to garage, others go commando. Oh, and they might park it outside. There's no one size fits all, it's great that Cybertruck is versatile enough to be OK in or out of the garage. No one's an idiot for wanting to garage, they live where they want to live, how they want to live. Me, I'm lucky enough to live where garages aren't used for cars so much. If I lived in snow country, I probably wouldn't want to get soaked between house and Cybertruck either. So, if we're going to get hot-headed about stuff, let's not make it over garaging, yes? Let's fight about the important stuff, like pass-through/no pass-through.

Yo. Just thoughed I would chime in. The whole basis for the garage vs outside kerfuffle was, back in what feels like the olden days now, the 3% reduction in size to make it fit a standard garage. Shrinkage is a touchy subject for us men. Uh. some men. Anways, I digress. Some of us did not want a smaller cabin, smaller frunk, smaller vault... Essentially LESS truck for the money because some people bawled their eyes out over the simple reason they could not make it fit in their dinky sheds. Call it what you will. The size is reduced.. but for a far better reason than garage space. And I guess we all can accept that. Now I just have to live long enough to ride the New Las Vegas Loop on the red planet in the official truck of Mars.

Cheers.

I've got to agree, I really didn't want the Cybertruck to be smaller at all. I would basically want the reasonably biggest Cybertruck that Tesla could make. As long as it fits between the lines when I park at a store, I would be happy. I remember watching the test drive videos and three grown men could sit in the back with a decent amount of comfort. Probably wouldn't be the most comfortable on a long drive but it would be just fine for short distances.

I wonder where 3% will come from. Is it 3% in all directions or will it be the same height. Is it still going to be a 6 1/2' bed or will it be 75 inches. If they don't take it from the bed will it be from the cabin, frunk, or half of each. I also hope they can shave off a couple inches from the doors instead of reducing cabin size, but that is probably unlikely.

I'm really hoping we can get a big update on the Cybertruck later this week with the model S event.

I'll almost certainly park my CT in the garage. First, I have the space, so why not, and second, in the summer the difference in cabin air temp being in the shade vs full sun can be pretty severe here in the south.
