The northeast is still lagging on the delivery front. I am in New Jersey close to NYC and placed an order for the AWD on January 11th and have not yet been assigned a VIN. My order number from 2019 is RN11282… I am an early Tesla adapter from 2016 when I bought a Model S, a car that I am trading in this week and transferring its free-for-life supercharging to a new Model S. I purchased three other Tesla vehicles for my daughters and wife. I also have Tesla solar panels.

In other words, I obviously (!) have been a loyal Tesla client but it matters little in the equation (I wasn’t expecting it to — I am just noting the facts for context). The delay is therefore likely logistical. Some believe it’s because Tesla did not want to ship CT’s to the northeast where the cold influences mileage and causes other issues. That’s rational.

Whatever the case, with orders being filled elsewhere, to RN’s and order dates that are later than mine and others from the northeast, Tesla probably could do a better job of communicating. Loyalty is not free and service has weakened as a result of the bevy of Tesla’s needing service, so they probably should avoid taking loyalty for granted.
Also in Jersey waiting on a VIN. Patience is a virtue we have all learned through this experience. It is also a virtue wearing thin with most of us. The northeast has been neglected, but there are some of us waiting months (not days) for a VIN (@scohen2002 ).

Well if it helps, I’m from sunny Southern California, Irvine delivery center. I to am a 1/11 config with no VIN. I have Tesla insurance, Tesla solar, 2 Tesla power walls, a Model S and Model X. It will happen and it will happen soon. Once we get the CT, we will forget about all of this waiting. I’m drawing from my Model X experience.

I certainly remember those days. I picked up my Tesla in California where I was living at the time and to great fanfare, with a sign, bow, etc, and then a staff of maybe seven or so people applauding as I drove out. The good old days! Now when I visit Tesla service centers the back of them look like junkyards, with cars everywhere. Still better than most OEM’s but with the volume of Teslas growing by the day, so should the company’s ability to service them.

Thank you for that. There does seem to be a lot of randomness to the process, especially when SoCal is experiencing varied timelines. I agree the wait is not so relevant save for the moment. That said, I had an opportunity to rent one near my for $2k for a local St Patrick’s parade and for that my patient thinned!

Wow, that’s awesome on a 1/22 order. I’m 1/17 AWD in AZ and nothing yet, but yours gives me hope ?
