Why do you expect a rougher ride?

This was the response I got from some unnamed person by text:

"Hey John, that's a weird msg you're seeing! I'm not sure the details on that, I just work at Unplugged Performance, we manufacture all the parts.

As for the wheels, I cannot yet publicly say our load rating, but it is so insanely strong that we can give LIFETIME warranty on these. No cracking or bending. Obviously crashing your truck or launching it off a mountain like we did with our race car wouldn't be covered, but all normal use that you put your truck through, covered. You won't bend these wheels"...

We stand behind our product in an extreme way with a lifetime warranty (non transferable). We recognize that there's an increased desire to understand our load ratings and we'll be updating our website to reflect the 3190lbs per wheel FEA rating. Our forged wheels are extremely strong, enabling such a comprehensive warranty guarantee and also they're resistant to the cracking at the limit found in cast or flow formed wheels. You'll find all clients of UP Forged wheels have driven their wheels hard and that our wheels have stood the test of time.

I dropped over $5k on CyberHex Wheels from Unplugged Performance.
I forgot to confirm the load rating with them before purchasing my wheels.
So, I called them back feeling a little silly that I forgot to ask for this metric.

I was told, "As for the wheels, I cannot yet publicly say our load rating, but it is so insanely strong that we can give LIFETIME warranty on these."

So, I know that the CyberHex wheel has been out there for quite some time, therefore, where's the load rating?
Beginning to feel really silly that I purchased the four wheels without checking first, I became a little irked when someone from their company texted me with "insanely strong" after I sent multiple emails formally requesting the load rating.

How would you respond to "insanely strong" when what you are really looking for is a number in kilograms or pounds?
If your vendor who has taken your $5k tells you "I cannot yet publicly say our load rating" what do YOU do next?
Eventually, they sent me a number which is over 3000 lbs. I have to say that I would rather have this number displayed on their web site in order to have a public declaration of such a basis performance metric.

I was then sent a link to their warranty page which is not a warranty but a terms of sale agreement that governs all of their sales. I defy you to find this page on their web site. For an example of an off road warranty page, see any of these:

Here are examples of off road wheel warranties:

Here is the single paragraph reference to Unplugged Performance's Warranty on their "terms & conditions" page:

PRODUCT WARRANTY
"ALL MERCHANDISE SOLD BY UNPLUGGED PERFORMANCE IS COVERED BY A TWO YEAR UNLIMITED MILEAGE WARRANTY AGAINST DEFECT OR FAILURE UNDER NORMAL USE WHEN INSTALLED AT UNPLUGGED PERFORMANCE’S FACILITY OR AN UNPLUGGED AUTHORIZED INSTALLER. IF ANY ITEM IS SHOWN TO BE DEFECTIVE OR FAIL WITHIN TWO YEARS OF PROPER INSTALLATION, IT WILL BE REPLACED AT NO CHARGE. WARRANTY IS EXCLUSIVELY LIMITED TO PARTS ONLY. LABOR PERFORMED BY THIRD PARTIES IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. DAMAGE INCURRED BY IMPACT, VANDALISM, IMPROPER INSTALLATION OR REMOVAL OR MODIFICATION OR DISOBEDIENCE TO INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS, FLOOD, OR OTHER UNTYPICAL AND ABNORMAL USE IS NOT COVERED. NO LABOR, SHIPPING, CURRENCY LOSSES, FEES OR INCONVENIENCE MAY BE INCLUDED IN ANY CLAIMS. ALL ORDERS PLACED WITH THIRD PARTIES ARE GOVERNED BY THE WARRANTY POLICY OF THE PERSON OR ORGANIZATION FROM WHICH THE ITEM IS PURCHASED. WARRANTY ON UNPLUGGED PRODUCTS IS IMMEDIATELY VOIDED IF PURCHASED FROM ANY ENTITY THAT IS NOT AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR WISH TO CLARIFY OR DISPUTE ANY OF THESE POLICIES THIS MUST BE DONE IN WRITING IN ADVANCE OF ANY ORDER."

The question is, if your merch is covered by a warranty, as described in this paragraph, then where is it? Also, if certain products are covered by a "Lifetime Waranty" then where is that?

Finally, my contact at UP is not a person with recognized title that imputes an authority to speak of act on behalf of. His title is "Tesla Specialist". Therefore, any representations that he makes are clearly a moving goal post. It is also clear when he says,
"I hope this message finds you well. I’m pleased to inform you that, after discussions with our leadership team, we have received approval to share our load ratings"
...then I know that they are hiding behind his lack of authoritative representation and whatever number he sent me which was over 3000 lbs. has to be treated as sketchy at best and subject to correction by corporate officers.

The sad part is that UP, a sponsor of this Cybertruck owners club, may not even permit this post to see the light of day- bringing the club into disrepute. My earlier post was revised to add onto an earlier post with a happier title about my purchase.

Let's se what happens to this post?

Great story, and glad for the update. Can we explain the conversation with a customer post sale?

Also are you stamping your rims with a certification? If so JWL, and VIA require third party labs. Would you mind sharing the info of which lab you use for those certs?

Also FEA is a program from my understanding. Have you done any actual lab strength testing on rims outside of virtual space? Would you mind sharing results from those labs and FEA?

There is no warranty. Only mention of a warranty. See my post subsequent to this starter.

We see this often with folks that like to just use the element strength of the material without testing the product third party. That costs money. Most like to stamp or promise the day away. Till shit happens. Then they disappear.

Warranties from wheel companies are worth crap. If it fails they are likely out of business, and you and many are in the hospital. I have had 200k on a pair of quality forged rims. Fluoroscopy went just fine. Why wouldn't people just drop the drawers and show us what they got.

We all aren't stupid. You Hawthorne folk think you can serve us junk because you are next to Tesla.
