It looks like there is a higher chance the launch Cybertruck will be a dual motor with the recent confirmation that the dual motor variant exists.

also, the rear screen seems like a confirmation as the base Model 3 Highland gets it as well. So it makes little sense for a newer higher price model to not receive the same treatment.
It's not a confirmation. There's no quad motor in the other model lines, so the codes could be different.

It amazes me how people come up with massive increases in price, without even a thought of what happened when Rivian tried to do that, and got a massive backlash. Only to turn around and change their mind and tell customers they made a mistake and were going to honor the prices they had signed up for. Rivian's stock got hit for almost 40% in a week of trading. You gotta know that Elon, and Tesla were watching carefully. This is why he's been dropping hints, and it really wouldn't surprise me one bit, if they watch this forum to measure feelings.

I'm not saying they won't try to increase the prices in some way. But all this speculation is BS!!
I agree completely about all the speculation being BS, but all this imagery just makes it hard to stay focused, and I am sure that everyone here is frustrated. I am too. Why hasn't there been video of more Cybertrucks out of GigaAustin? If they made a Dual Motor back in July is that really how things are going to go? What is with that nasty windshield crack, and on and on. We can be frustrated but sheesh lets not go after each other when there is nothing we can do to make it happen faster or differently than it is going to happen.

Well, that placard did have Dual Motor printed on it. I'd say that is certainly confirmation that 'that' truck had a dual motor in it. But that is as far as I am willing to go right now.

I don't know if disappointed is the word I'd use, but I would not purchase it if either of the following were true.
- $79k starting price for the Dual Motor Variant (I have a CT3 reservation...you're essentially saying I should expect to pay over $100k; to which I say no effing way)
- lower than expected range (Again, 500+ or bust for me, nothing else will be considered)

Regarding...
- FSD at launch...I'm not sure how much I care. I reserved mine with FSD, but meh
- No GPU; no steam. Don't care
- Battery other then 4680, I don't really care. I only care about range and battery longevity. But I think there is 0% chance any CT will be delivered with anything other then the 4680.
- 2nd screen; don't care; never expected it
- Manual rear gate; don't care; will be like every other truck I've owned
- Manual frunk; don't care; will be like every other hood on a truck I've owned...except that it opens to more storage.
I agree on most every point. After waiting for 4+ years (hopefully not 5) by the time my number comes up, I'll be damned if I am not going to get one. The 2 show stoppers for me are the 3mm stainless and the 500 mile range. I won't budge on either (I can budge a bit on the 3 mm but it has to be thick enough to be pretty impervious to normal external damage). I will budge on price.

All these other things are optional for me so if they happen then great. I would really like more cup holders than I expect to get :) I was/am still hoping for that tailgate ramp. A motorized frunk lid and tailgate would be nice to have. The rear monitor to me is a liability because my dog will just destroy it. I think there is zero chance that the battery will be anything but 4680. I do not play video games so I don't care about that but I do watch YouTube videos and listen to the radio so it would be nice to have a great entertainment system. I trailer occasionally so I would like trailering support. I always hoped for a non side-mirror option though I would keep the side mirrors. I also hoped for the no-hydraulics solution for both steering and braking but mostly because I see it as a cleaner solution that wold appeal to Tesla. The word is still out on those. Oh, I really, really want the armor glass to work.

If your dog will destroy the rear monitor, maybe don't put your dog in the cabin where they can destroy ultrahard flat surfaces. Especially since the vast majority of surfaces inside the cabin are not as durable.

Maybe a HOVER CT, with SpaceX Pack released in the Future! Bummer if you have to lose the back seat!

Ultrahard Crissa? Do you have a dog? There is almost no surface that can stand up to normal dog movement, and dog hair, dirt, mud, sand, and water do the rest. What my dog doesn’t do my gear does do. I thought the Cybertruck was supposed to be rugged inside and out. Or is that just marketing?

My dog is an integral part of the family and a major part of the decision making about what car to buy. I have purchased or constructed barriers for my dogs for decades because the cars themselves have never been ‘dog ready’. In fact, when I buy a car the back seats get folded down pretty much permanently and becomes the domain for my dog(s) … so it becomes a major ordeal to make it human compatible. That is not going to change. I can make a durable cover for the monitor and other ‘ultrahard’ surfaces; I am just saying that I have no use for one so if it doesn’t show up I will be fine. I would not make a thumbs-down decision based on the monitor (or anything in that ‘optional’ list).

If the monitor is part of a Plaid trim and I can only get 500+ miles with a Plaid trim then I will get it. Range is king.

Definitely not a show stopper for me but I'd rather not have the rear screen - just because my current truck back seat takes a lot of abust loading things in it (especially when we put 3 moto gear bags back there every weekend)...and it will probably only be useful < 5% of the time that I have rear passengers! But as said above - get a cover or something for it and try to ask others to pay attention! All good, if that's the worst of it I'll be more than ecstatic!

Let's say you're right and Tesla sells them for $50-60K. Most of the first 50K vehicles would be flipped for huge profits due to pent up demand. Tesla is not going to happily pass this value on to the consumer. Rivian was forced to do this because they are a start up and couldn't weather the backlash without running the risk of folding. Tesla has no such worry, and the fed rebate soon being point of sale makes it even easier for them.

...

Or I guess you could just keep going with, "Nuh-uh, because Elon said". His credibility is gold these days.
I tend to agree with you - maybe not most, but certainly many of the first 50,000 vehicles will be flipped. (And also, I unfortunately have to agree with your last sentence as well).

Is it confirmed that the federal rebate will be at the point of sale? I thought that was still up in the air...

Yes, the surface of tablets is a glass made under pressure, compared to everything else in the cabin, it is ultrahard.

If your dog will break that, it will break everything else first. (It won't break the screen first)

Do I have a dog? What a stupid question. I have handled and cared for many puppies. Dogs take alot of work to care for. So of course not. ...And adaptions, like seat covers and harnesses and crates. I just did a road trip with my mom, her dog, and her booster seat and harness.

I have shared before my prior cat would ride shotgun from her chemotherapy with her harness belted in.

I'm keeping myself grounded. The only thing that would disappoint me to the point of delaying buying is the motor situation. If they only release a dual motor version at first I'm not buying until the tri-motor (or whatever the top model is) comes out.

If I had a dual, and the tri became available, I'd be unhappy and wishing I had waited. I know myself.

That's the only thing I really have my heart set on.

100% agree - that's why I put a deposit on day 2 and month X (dont remember) - but I'm about 120k and 650k in line - hoping second one is the full config and has a few refinements - end goal is a sorted Max Motor/Full Tow & Range Spec Version

Brushing aside the always potent "LOL!" for a moment, there is really no historical precedent for the overnight $13K+ price drop that Tesla rolled out this year on the Model Y. Many dealerships found themselves severely underwater on used Tesla inventory, and as a result, are now refusing to buy used Teslas. Some might call that "volatile".

Regarding your commend about it being normal for auto prices to fluctuate with rebates and incentives, that is an excellent point, and most certainly not at all obvious. I think I shall print it out and put it on the fridge. "Look honey. I found untold wisdom on the internet today".
IMO
New manufacturing efficiency's and battery/drivetrain costs will make EV's volatile to used dealers and the owners of EV's looking to sell them as new ev prices drop constantly over the next 5 years. This is a model T moment and EV's will constantly get cheaper.

Throw in J Powell taming inflation and historic rate hikes and Tesla is doing the smart thing to keep production growth up with current market conditions .

I have a Lightning and I know what i will face when I go to sell it next year. We are in unique times.
