Lease vs Buy.
Would love to hear opinions of those who have leased CT or teslas previously - did you wish you bought? Value of leasing vs buying and selling 3-5 years?
Business owners with CT: Buy truck and claim sec 179 or write off lease payment?

After driving one in 2014 and itching for a couple years, my first Tesla ('16 MS90D) was a lease, finally able to enter the Tesla world because of screamin deal at end of year drive to get them out the door, and tax credit baked in instead of having to claim like purchase. $8k down $660/mo vs normally $1200+/mo. So yes glad I did it, but it truly hurt 2 years later giving it back. I got one of the first M3s which was ~52K and paid more monthly that the MS, but it was MINE!! I am just grateful life and career worked out so I could keep buying and not leasing, paid cash for CT after saving 5 years while waiting. I would highly encourage saving a bigger down payment until the loan payment fits your budget, rather than leasing. In the long term this will pay off better for you. That said, if the new $750/mo lease fits your cash flow and you don't mind having nothing when it's over, and especially if you have business write-off, go for it! YOLO!!

We hold vehicles forever and wanted one early so purchased. Current lease terms are tempting on a monthly payment basis though...

With Cybertruck, you may be able to combine both. Leases get the 45W commercial credit which Tesla passes along in the lease terms. Then (reportedly), you can turn around and do an early buy out of the lease. End result is lower cost.
But perform your own due diligence.

The lease is more attractive then ever, I’m hesitant because I have never leased and overall just don’t like the process but I may bite especially with how often Tesla keeps changing. I am a little unclear but the $7500 is already built into the presented monthly payment PLUS needs $7500 down, correct?

YES!
The terms include the 45W credit. Your deposit is $7,500 that you bring to the table.

If I could do it over I would’ve leased. The awful resale value and price fluctuations are protected and if you time the lease right you get a solid lease deal. Keep in mind I don’t keep cars long either. Also I don’t qualify for the tax rebate and leasing is a loophole.

just circling back to this thread and I wanted to ask, does the CyberBeast lease get the $7500 credit baked in as well?

would you suggest putting down any $ at all for the lease? wonder why it defaults at $7500 down which is the same amount as EV credit. But I heard many times to put $0 down unless you plan on really doing the buyout?

So everybody can get confused on whether the $7.5k down payment is the same money as the $7.5k credit ?(it's not)

The less downpayment, the higher the monthly and more you spend on interest, so I guess it's a question of how much that cash could earn if not used?

true but i guess if you total the car or etc people always say it’s bad you lose the down - so I guess minimal or no down
