Lightning Stop Production / Stop Shipment Issued Due to Potential Battery Issue

Here is the article: https://www.motorauthority.com/news...duction-halted-due-to-potential-battery-issue

"On Tuesday, Ford spokesperson Emma Bergg confirmed to Motor Authority that both a stop-build and an in-transit stop-ship order have been issued for the F-150 Lightning due to a potential battery issue.

The nature of the battery issue was not disclosed by the automaker.

Bergg said the potential issue was identiified as part of Ford's pre-delivery quality inspections. The automaker is unaware of any incidents or issues associated with this potential issue in the field with customer-owned trucks.

A stop-sale has not been issued and all F-150 Lightnings already built and at dealers are cleared for scheduled delivery."

I wonder what kind of warranty expense might be hiding under this announcement. I mean, Ford is already losing money on every Lighting and every Mach-e they sell, if it turns out the warranty liability is greater than anticipated it makes the situation even more disastrous.

And the narrative used to be that Ford knew how to build quality vehicles so making EV's in high volumes would be child's play for them. It looks like Ford is learning it's not as simple as just ordering parts from a supplier and hooking up the red wires to "+" and the black to "-".

This is too bad.

Hopefully it’s not a Bolt class disaster. It sounds like they figured it out, hopefully they are right.

Really hoping at least 1 other US automaker survives and… GM seems to be struggling even more.
