Found a perfect style drive for the Cybertruck (not that it matters, but it's still neat). Available up to 1TB and 1000MB/sec. I ordered one from Amazon, should arrive tomorrow, I'll update once I get test it. Amazon link: White and Black

Two things.

Trusting USB keys from unknown manufacturers often results in unknown results. There have been too many instances of people finding a 1GB key only holding 16MB.

Are you planning on using this to store camera info? If so, I guess you know that no one will ever see it.

Yep, that's why I mentioned I'd test it and report back.

Did you see my addition

New vehicles are delivered with a 128GB drive installed. You only need replace it if you desire a larger one.

It seems as if there is no need to do anything right now.

Especially if you have a Foundation order that I believe said "everthing's included"

The Foundation Series CT's come with the same 128G thumbdrive. I just swapped it out for a Samsung T7 with 4 partitions, so that I could have separate partitions for the TeslaCam, Music (my MP3 collection), Boombox (for truck sound effects) and LightShow (not really sure what this is about yet....). The port in the glovebox is a USB-A port, not a USB-C port. The T7 does come with an A to C cable, and it is backward compatible with USB 2.0

How did you do the partitions?
Thanks!

I used the Disk Manager app in Windows 11. You find it by right mouse clicking on the Windows 'Start' button in the lower left corner of the screen. You will find all disk devices attached to your computer in that app, including the system disk, which you do not want to mess with. It will typically show up as Disk 0. See that attached image. If you don't have any other drives except the new USB drive attached, it should show up as Disk 1. In my case, I have a microSD card also in my laptop, that shows up as Disk 1, so my T7 showed up as Disk 2. The T7 that I used already had a single ExFAT partition on it. You select and delete that partition first, then start creating the new partitions and formatting them with ExFAT partitions. You should probably do the partitions one at a time, starting with the TESLADRIVE partition.

Recommend keeping a couple in the vehicle in the event you need to give one to the police to help with an accident. I also keep an adaptor that I can use to get footage off the drive with my iPhone so I don’t have to wait until I get home to access it on a computer.

Flash drives I use:

Adapter I use:

Note that Tesla requires the drive to have "sustained write speed of at least 4 MB/s", which is usually what the cheap options lack. Drives with lower write speeds will have jittery video.

It's running at ~550MB/sec for me on writes, it's got plenty of speed. I've been running it in my Cybertruck for the last several days, it's recorded ~40GB of SentryClips/SavedClips so far.

A really cool thing I love about it is that since it has USB-A and USB-C, I can pull it out of the glovebox and stick it directly into my iPhone 15 Pro Max to copy the files, without ever leaving the vehicle. Makes changing the LockChime.wav file super easy, too.

Added a performance test for the drive, not bad for $80 for 1TB!
