This method worked for me, I didn’t want to mount it to the sunroof/windshield

Yes! And one of the major CT selling points for me was the mechanized tonneau to keep the elements out. (I had to add tailgate weatherstripping to achieve a suitable dust-free truck bed).

Does the tonneau require to be open for signal to go through?
So far I've only tested it with the tonneau partially open while driving and it works. I have yet to try it closed but I would think it may not really work well. When I'm not driving I close the tonneau if I'm parked in public etc..

I keep mine on the dashboard. Never lose signal unless I’m in some seriously twisty mountain roads, deep downtown canyons, or on roads in heavily wooded areas.
I use a 1U rack ear from a piece of network gear to keep the dish stable on the dashboard (slips between the dash pad and the fabric of the front most dash). It has been there for a couple months now and hasn’t moved a single time, even while doing serious off-roading.

I put a black film over the face of the mini and a black rubber protector around the back. Always over 100 down and near 200 regularly.

Keep mine in the front dash, never had any issues with connections. Works great on the road too!

I used this: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6736755 to mount it on the inside of the glass above the rear center seat headrest. Use it everyday and it works reliably.
I got the ceiling mount, but I can't get the starlink to connect from under the glass.
It will work if I hold it outside.

So, I guess there are location issues when the mount is under the roof glass. This is something to understand before you count on that mount.

I use that mount 7x24 (it is also my home internet backup) under the glass, as do others (cyberrig above). Mine has been there a couple months working great.

has anyone had success using Starlink through the ceiling glass of the cybertruck?
Few weeks ago I just got back from 11,000 mile cross country trip Towing a camper. I had great signal and speeds all the way across country never had a single problem I borrowed it from my nephew and he had an awesome suction cup mount and I put it on the rear glass. You work perfect
It was strong enough to travel all the way into the camper so no matter where we were we could stream Netflix or Amazon prime serve the internet or do anything we wanted. It was awesome

Do you mean under the glass roof? It won't get a signal at all there for me.

I put it in my Model Y and also no signal under the roof glass.

It does work on the rear window in my Model Y. So I'm thinking it's the roof tint. But I never added
any tint to them.. And it works for some people. Very strange.

It's been reported on this forum that metallic tint will block the signal.

Yeah, if you tinted the roof, won’t work.
Have moved mine to the rear seat roof position and it works perfectly, but I don’t have tint there.

Yes inside the truck facing out. That is strange. Does the model y have different tint?
