Has Anybody with a mirror delete tested the efficiency change? I just took them off last week, with the Cybertruck Co. billet alluminum replacement parts (very easy and looks great!). I drive 70 miles to work and it usually take me about 32-35% charge to get there (all I 75 and bending the speed limit), last week I made it using about 27%. It was pretty warm but seems like a crazy efficiency change.

Mirrors cause a surprising hit to range, but not that surprising. Unless perhaps your entire trip is over 100 mph, LOL!

Keep testing.

That’s a great increase in range and efficiency. How are you finding driving without the mirrors mostly using the blind spot indicator and cameras?

It seems like a bunch? Maybe Drive it around for a week or two and then see what you get with a longer average.

Great video. I am not a physicist so this is likely not the correct math, but if anyone knows better please chime in.

In that video where all the factors are alike except for deleting the mirrors, the difference in CD was .413 vs .382. Or around an 8% reduction.

OP observed a reduction of 16% in energy usage.

Its obvious removing drag is always going to help. I think its a great idea to do so if you are still able to drive safely.

EDIT: I read the excel incorrect, everything I said was wrong.

Speed is the single biggest factor for saving energy, I bet you drove at a slower speed last week. I'm getting 360wh/mi if driving at 65mph, but 260wh/mi at 40mph on a bad commute day, 15mil one way.

I don't know about the mirror delete but I noticed an increase in efficiency on a 200 mile drive this past Saturday. I made it a point to stay at 70mph on the freeway and watched my consumption as I went. It was almost entirely freeway and on the way back ran into traffic for maybe 20 miles of around 35-40 mph but the rest of the way at 70. I averaged about 355wh/mile which puts the range at around 346 with the AT tires.

My past experience with Model 3's and Y's is sometimes you see an unannounced change in efficiency of the battery pack....perhaps they made some changes in the CT. Anyone else notice a change in the power consumption recently?

The mirror test was .39 on vs .38 removed.

Items in rearview mirror or larger than they appear.

Significant difference? Wishful thinking.

It takes a little getting used to. But I pretty much stopped using the mirrors anyway and just use the blind spot indicators and the cameras when I’m changing lanes for the last few weeks. Took a couple long road trips to Northern Michigan and it wasn’t a problem.

Mirror delete will not make a noticeable difference compared to climate settings, speed, and terrain.

I was able to average 342Wh/mi across a single, non-stop 250mi drive recently just by adjusting my speed and regen use. I rarely drove 70mph, mainly staying at around 55-65mph.

Climate may have been a little bit warmer. Maybe 75 versus 70. But speed and terrain were the same. Had the adaptive cruise set at 85 the whole time.

I wouldn't take those results too seriously. That particular wind tunnel is quite a bit too small to measure something as large as the Cybertruck, especially the difference between mirrors/no mirrors (because the mirrors are out in the turbulent air near the periphery of the tunnel). The tunnel has to be big enough that the walls aren't impacting the results.
