My CT had to go to the shop to repair scuffs on the dash that existed when I took delivery. The good folks at Tesla Upland, CA were kind enough to lend us a Model X.

I have driven other Teslas prior to getting my CT, including having test driven a Model X. But never with the yoke.

In my humble opinion, Tesla HUGELY missed the mark with the yoke. It is an absolute pain in the ass to steer. An abysmal experience.

In contrast, Tesla hit the ball out of the park with the CT’s squoval wheel, steer by wire, and rear wheel steering. Absolute dream to drive, compared to the nightmarish experience of the X with a yoke. They need to roll out the CT steering philosophy/approach to the rest of the fleet.

The ride in the X also felt not nearly as smooth. The same bumps around my town were waaaay more noticeable. And honestly, the seating wasn’t quite as comfortable.

The X did have FSD, however, and V.12 is nuts!!!! So freaking cool. Can’t wait till we get our update.

Omg, I've been driving the CT for the past couple days and went to take the Plaid S out in town for a bit. It has been ruined, it feels like a non-CT and I missed driving the CT. The ride is way different and had to turn the wheel more than necessary and almost feels like ancient tech. Anyone feel this way?

Exactly. And that yoke on the X I’ve been driving is gigantic! Like way too wide. Driving it in a parking lot is just incredibly annoying. I literally left it on FSD as much as I possibly could.
I WANTED to like the yoke because, well, Knight Rider. But it just doesn’t work. At least not without steer by wire.

Do you get a lot of vibration in the steering wheel and through the floor at freeway speeds? I had mine in service and they replaced a drive unit and it is still pretty much the same. I’ve gone and compared it to every vehicle I own (several) and it is far and away the most vibration I’ve ever felt in a steering wheel over 65 mph.

Not that I’ve noticed on neither the X nor CT.

I'm with you that the trucks are amazing and Tesla hit a home run with them.

I haven't driven our porsche since we got the beast. I drove the porsche to dinner last night and my wife laughed at me so much saying I was acting like a drunk driver(7 months sober now). I couldn't help myself even while trying my best to drive. Driving the porsche felt like I was going back in time with technology by a decade at least. Just blows my mind how easy the beast is to drive that everything else so far has felt ancient. Wife drove us home because she has yet to drive the beast and has old legs haha.

Steer by wire is the game changer that has helped me stay strong and not consider a half the price Y or a similarly priced X.

Back in the Steve Jobs Apple days, there were things about Apple products that you just had to experience to appreciate. Looking at pictures or at spec sheets didn't tell the story. Seems like the same for CT. People are obsessed with the polarizing looks but the driving experience is what is really defining the CT.

Agreed! Dropped off my CT yesterday and got a Plaid S with yoke loaner. While its ridiculous fast, I absolutely hate the yoke. Feel like its 50 feet wide and I feel like I am turning the thing forever making any kind of turn. Steer-by-wire, squircle and rear steering are a game changer for sure.

I also took my CT in yesterday, to address the wind noise issue (which they did), and they also gave me a refreshed Model X. I too came away thinking as you did. The yoke was a pain in the ass, but mostly because the X isn't using steer by wire. I almost got into a couple of accidents because I had to turn the wheel so much more than the CT. I also found the CT ride to be smoother, and the CT interior to be quieter. The turn-signal buttons are better, and the UI is much more intuitive on the CT. I am so glad I got a CT instead of an X.

Firstly, huge congrats on your sobriety! And that’s crazy that a Porsche feels like a dated driving experience now. The CT sure has taken a leap forward!

Drove Model X this weekend, felt like driving a bus! Steering wheel felt huge!

Cyberbeast has officially ruined driving anything else, even other Tesla's.

Blows my mind ? people have no idea!

I guess this is what Elon means when he says Pace of Innovation is what matters most long term!

My meat computer is hanging in there, hell of a ride, love processing the changes but freaks me out how easily we move forward, totally like AOL vs Broadband. Going backwards makes no sense! So freaking cool, hell of a time to be alive for sure! Enjoy the ride!

Yes. Going over 70ish, my yoke turns left and right a fraction of an inch. Also I get a weird feeling when turning in parking lots at low speed, like the left wheel is resisting turning. Service told me 'within spec'. BS, Mr. Service, I've never had a car with these issues. Also rough acceleration in the mid 40s mph range.

The yoke is like a girlfriend. Don’t judge her based on one date.
