Will the divorce be amicable?

You should be prepared for creating an environment for your next family dynamicand the CT would only be a burden when attempting to do that. Im not sure the age of the kiddos, though the younger this becomes most important.

The dust will settle at some point. Sorry for your situation.

Hello, Cybertruck enthusiasts

I've been part of this amazing community for a while, soaking up the wisdom and camaraderie you all generously share. Your guidance has been a beacon through my journey of anticipation and patience for the Cybertruck, a symbol of innovation and personal aspiration for me.

I'm reaching out today for your insights on a dilemma that's weighing heavily on me. Six months ago, I couldn't imagine seeking advice ?, but I've come to value this community's spirit of support and kindness. ?

The 4years journey to the Cybertruck's launch has been my solace and motivation, mirroring my hopes for a brighter future amidst personal challenges. My reservation number is 11292xxxx, and recently, I've been presented with two options:

1. Opt for the AWD Foundation Series at $99,000 today, potentially receiving it by the end of 2024.

2. Wait for the regular AWD model at $80,000, ( my best guess the option will likely become available by fall of 2024), with delivery by the end of 2025, allowing me to save more money and use more money to personalize truck later.

Initially, I leaned towards the second option for its financial prudence and soundness. However, life threw me a curveball I hadn't anticipated. My marriage has been struggling, and despite my best efforts, it seems we're at an impasse. This turmoil threatens the financial stability required for buying the Cybertruck, a dream that's been a beacon of hope for me. There is a risk that either my wife initiates a divorce or that I may have to trigger the divorce myself if the situation gets totally out of control or my kids' wellbeing is impacted in a bad way.

Given these circumstances, I'm contemplating securing the Cybertruck sooner through the first option, despite the financial stretch it represents. This decision feels like a crucial step to preserve a piece of my future dreams amid the storm.

I'd love to hear your thoughts:
  • How would you navigate this choice?
  • If I commit to the AWD Foundation Series now, when must I finalize financing?
  • Is it possible to switch to the regular AWD later without losing my reservation spot, even if it means forfeiting the deposit?
  • Any advice on proceeding with my Cybertruck dream if a divorce is imminent?

Your wisdom and support mean the world to me during this crossroads. Thank you for lending an ear and sharing your insights.

Divorce is a rat hole, that your existing wealth will disappear into. Forget CT, your family home, all the other toys. your kids expensive educations.. Wife's Lawyers with force an even distribution and liquidation of assets....and likely her alimony... At best your CT will become a financial albatross. Fund your marriage counselor, not Tesloid hubris. Teslas have been around only 2 decades... CTs are still experimental!!! They're never going to be the only car you must have to work or play.
Think this is the best response I have seen having been through a divorce myself.
Paying $127k for a test vehicle with a potential impending divorce is a terrible idea in my opinion.
If it was rock solid and you could live out of it maybe, but the way things are going it will be at the Service center a good bit and with your situation you don't need more to worry about.

I know that what you want to hear is some sort of justification to buy it that you haven't yourself thought of. But your reality is that life is about to get very expensive...alimony, child support, another place to live for yourself, having to eat out more often, a new gym membership (lol) and of course, money to take out the new ladies you meet.

It's simple, don't buy it, cause if you do, you'll be forced to sell it, cause you won't be able to afford it, and you know it.

Alternatively, figure out how to keep your family together, you'll have to dig deep for this and unfortunately, say goodbye to your manhood, (though this may get partially restored with the purchase of a cybertruck...lol) cause she owns you and she know it, and even more so once she knows you allowed for the scales to move in her favor...its a power play, and there is no returning from this for you.

Honestly, and without knowing any details of your situation, I'd keep it together with the family for the time being, enjoy living with your kids a little longer, buy the CT, and postpone the inevitable for another 5 years...you never know what can change during that time.

Hope this helps, good luck.

Things are not nearly as important as relationships. Making life good for your kids is important and if having more resources to make that happen if the marriage doesn’t work, that is not important than a vehicle.
Do the second option and pay attention to the things that matter more in life
Just one guys opinion

Wait. Get divorce, get kids, get settled. Truck will come along for 80k. It's much easier to take each event as they happen, than pile on so many mental challenges.
Divorce is hell. (Have 5), I finally learned my lesson. But, take each event as they come. Good luck.

Kids first and foremost! and then seek happiness! Marriage can be a beautiful thing, but it doesn't always work!

The truck, well, you know your situation, if you can do it quasi responsibly then go for it, sounds like a distraction (and 4 years of waiting), but I get it, I'm a techie and I like shiny objects, but I also know in the grand scheme of things they don't mean ****.

Hang in there, what's supposed to happen will happen!

If you have to ask us, save your money and pick up a 2nd hand one in the next few years.
