I recently completed my PowerShare installation, after a few months of waiting (the delay was due to the utility company).

The work was by Smart Charge America, and they did a great job. My cost was $7,700 but that included whole new electrical service, since my 80's-vintage equipment was inadequate.

Everything outside is all-new:

The cost breakdown:

EVSE: On-Demand Delivery, Mounting, Configuring, Syncing, Testing, Ongoing Training$ 149.00
Scope of Work: TESLA 3V Backup Gateway (TESLA SUPPLIED)$ 2,127.00
Scope of Work: Install TESLA Wall Connector (TESLA SUPPLIED)$ 2,133.37
Scope of Work: 200A UPGRADE SERVICE to HOME Electrical System$ 2,700.00
Municipality: City of Austin, Texas: Permit/Inspection - FULL PURPOSE$ 349.00
Electric Utility: Austin Energy: Disconnect/Reconnect Coordination$ 225.00

This did not include the $500 for the WC pedestal that I purchased myself, and the installation cost included trenching and a concrete pad.

I guess they did save me a little money in lettering by leaving the "A" out of "CHARGER".

The finished product!

I thought Hurricane Beryl would give me a good PowerShare test, but in Austin we didn't even get rain. Therefore, I performed my own test:

The switchover took just a few seconds. Note it initially quoted 8 hours of runtime, but that was with the AC running and only 30% SoC available. With the AC off, the time extended to over 20 hours:

and if the truck was charged to 80%, those numbers would be double.

PowerShare waits for 5 minutes after power is restored, but that switchover was NOT seamless and the power was briefly interrupted again, so don't bother resetting your clocks until you're back on grid power.

All in all, a successful test!

Great info thanks! I had Powershare installed last week, however I'm still waiting for the app to update and recognize that I have all the equipment installed and working. I think there is something with the VIN number that they need to enable or at least I think I read that on here somewhere. Did yours work immediately or was there some delay before the app updated?

It took a few days, but eventually the Tesla App showed a "Welcome to Powershare" message, which had me set the discharge limit. I assume that's when it became available, I didn't actually try it before that.

after I filled out the PowerShare survey, I have heard nothing from Tesla. What’s the best way to get in touch with someone ?

In my case, I contacted Smart Charge America directly, before I knew I was supped to wait for someone lol. I was later contacted by my “official” installer but I just ignored them.

AFAIK no one has gotten answers from Tesla, other than “patience, young padawan”

Thanks for the demo. I'm still waiting for the software update for those with existing solar or Powerwall's.

I'm thinking about adding a powerwall (no solar at this time) when Tesla does my Powershare installation, assuming I'm approved.

I have a couple of questions:
1. Will Tesla allow me to lump the install of a Powerwall with the Powershare?
2. Will the Powerwall prevent power burps? We lose power for a few seconds about every other week and while I'm thankful for what we have, it's irritating.
